Even the quote-mined version of Richard Dawkins' purpose of live seems better than Christians'.

So basically, Christians think the purpose of life is to serve god (mainly) and fellow men (probably meaning helping your fellow men in serving god), and they think atheists like Dr Dawkins think life is meaningless because we are robots built by DNA.

The quotes in the picture above seem to be taken from the Selfish Gene without context. The 'purpose' in the sentence means the 'purpose' of DNA. Mind you, 'purpose' IS in the eye of the beholder. There is no purpose in nature. It is a concept we humans have invented. What is the purpose of a stone? To help us to build a stone tool? No, that is our point of view. Stones cannot think, therefore there is no purpose; they are just there. We project our purpose to them. Seeking purpose on something other than human is like asking what is the smell of a melody. It is undefinable.

What Dr Dawkins meant in the quote-minded passages above is that:

1. DNA exists because it replicates, and there is no hidden purpose or magic in that.
2. All life forms including humans are created during the process of DNA replicating itself.
3. There is no hard-defined purpose for human life, you define yours, and if you are happy with it, it is good enough.

Actually, I am quite surprised that a person who read the Selfish Gene could make that kind of excerpt. The person is either

1. tremendously stupid, did not read the whole book, and only skimmed the book to find anything to criticise atheists
2. cunning enough to deliberately quote-mine those in order to deceive gullible, uneducated Christians.

, and I am afraid it is more likely the latter.

However, even if the purpose if life for atheists were really "live for the sake of living and creating more life", it seems to be vastly better than the other choice to serve that homophobic, kitty-killing (yeah, he drowned all kitties with the flood), egomaniac god of Christians. And I suspect most Christians do not even think like that; they are just paying lip service, like how we always say physical beauty is shallow and yet are attracted to pretty people. I mean really, how many Christians really think their top priority in their life is serving their god? How many of them are willing to sacrifice their personal life to serve god, like sacrificing their son? Are you willing to sacrifice your son to serve god, if your god order you to kill your son, as he said to Abraham? 

Well, I would rather be a purposeless replicating machine than a slave. 

The links of 4 billion years.

Creationism is just a disgrace and an insult to the humans and living things.

My father survived and succeeded to make an offspring, and so did his father and his father. This goes up to the first living cell that appeared about 4 billion years ago. Think about their efforts! For 4 billion years, the link never had been broken, otherwise I would not have been here. I will not count the number of individuals from I to the first cell, but there could have been millions. None of them died before reproduction. A million time luck! If I go up to my ancestry there should have been mouse-like animals, lizard-like animals and fish-like animals. They all worked hard to survive. I can't even imagine all the life stories of the millions of lives in my lineage back to the first cell. All I can think of them is that they have survived all the harsh environments and somehow managed to reproduce, thus I am now.

With creationism, everything becomes so very less impressive. There was an all-powerful being that had been just there without any effort (God just was there), and the all-powerful being just created all living things in a few moments in their present forms without much effort. Yes, it's all-powerful God, do you think it would be anything difficult for God to create animals or humans? So humans just popped into existence by God and survived for only a few thousand years.... This greatly diminishes all the efforts life on Earth has made for 4 billion years.

Creationists often says something to praise their God for all the beauties and glories they see in living things. Glory? What Glory? What's so great about living things if an all-powerful being just made them effortlessly in a few moments? That should have been less impressive than a toaster machine pops out toasts. When I think of the efforts of 4 billion years of life, now I can truly be grateful to them and look solemnly at the world with wonders.

Actually, I am atoms.

I have been amazed by the structures of atoms. Maybe you have been, too. I thought they were very weird things. Very tiny electrons are going round far far away from a nucleus. And come to think of it, I am that very thing.

As an atheist, I think myself consists of physical materials, i.e. atoms. Not only my body, but my consciousness is, too. Christians have vague idea that we have something called souls, which are not effected by the physical world. Yeah, in your dreams. I think my consciousness is like a software. I am not saying it is a software because it just follows written instructions, but because the way it exists in this physical world is the same as that of a software. Think of Windows. Without computers, Windows cannot exist. Windows is not a physical thing, but it exists as a physical thing, you got it?

Let's say there only left one computer on the world, and all other DVDs, written documents about Windows are lost. If someone burns that computer, then Windows is lost, and there will be no way to bring it back to this world. If Windows is my conscience, the computer is my brain. If I die, my brain stops functioning, and will be devoured by fungi and bacteria, and will be completely decomposed. Then my consciousness will also disappear from the universe.

Is it not amazing that my consciousness is just the acts of those mindless atoms? Somehow some carbons, oxygens, nitrogens and others got together and are contemplating and feeling the world. They think that atoms weird, when they themselves are atoms! What a strange sensation it is.

Somewhere in the vast sea of the atoms in my brain, is my consciousness. If Yahweh created people and the world so easily in just a few days by saying something, it would not be interesting at all. Why should it? Almighty Yahweh just did that, and that is that. Without Yahweh, I think it pretty much amazes me with wonders of the world.
