쌀 벌레 없는 쌀 추천

예전부터 이것에 관해 글을 쓸까 말까 하다가 쓰지만, 나는 쌀 업계와 아무런 관련이 없는 사람이다.

쌀(백미를 사다가 이후로는 현미만)을 여러 군데에서 사 보았다. 이마트/홈플러스에서 소포장으로 파는 것도 사 보고, 인터넷 쇼핑몰에서도 사 보았다. 그런데 홈플러스에서 사면 거의 무조건 쌀 벌레가 나왔 것으로 기억한다. 이마트 것에서도 나왔던 것 같고, 인터넷에서 산 것도 나왔었다.

인터넷에서 주로 10KG짜리 포장을 사는데, 쌀 벌레가 나오면 정말 처치 곤란하다. 10KG을 한꺼번에 다 먹을 수도 없고, 그렇다고 통째로 냉장고에 넣을 수 있는 공간도 없다. 그냥 쌀 벌레가 우글거리는 쌀을 그대로 포대에 두고 매번 밥을 지을 때마다 쌀 벌레를 뜨거운 물로 죽였는데, 사실 보기만 해도 징그럽다. 보기에만 징그러운 게 아니라, 이 벌레들은 쌀 속을 파 먹고 그 안에다가 알을 낳는데, 그 알에 무슨 발암 물질인가가 들어가 있다고 하는 걸 읽은 것 같다.

여러 개 사 보다가 지금은 한 브랜드만 사는데, 이제까지 10KG짜리를 한 15번은 산 것 같은데, 쌀 벌레가 단 한 마리도 나온 적이 없다. 상품 설명 중에는 최신식 세척기가 있어서 벌레 등 이물질이 적다고 적혀 있다. 어쨌든, 쌀 벌레가 없을 뿐 아니라, 돌이나 기타 이물질도 거의 본 적이 없다.

쌀 이름은 조암농협 고시히카리 현미 10KG이다. 네이버 쇼핑에서 "고시히카리 현미 10"을 검색한 후 최저가 순으로 정렬하고, 아래 그림을 찾으면 된다.

파는 쇼핑몰과 최저가는 계속 바뀌는데, 대략, 무료 배송으로 쌀 때는 26000원, 비쌀 때는 30000원 사이이다.

참고로, 현미가 싫으면 똑같은 포장으로 고시히카리 백미 10KG도 있다. 현미를 산다는 게 실수로 백미를 산 적이 있다. 위의 검색어로 검색해서 위의 그림만 보고 샀는데, 하필이면 판매명이 "고시히카리 백미 10KG (사은품 현미 500g 증정)" 비슷한 것이었다. 네이버 쇼핑 검색이 단어가 떨어져 있어도 결과에 보여서, 검색 결과에 나왔던 것 같다. 물론 백미에서도 쌀 벌레는 안 나왔다.

맛은 뭐, 특별히 좋은지는 모르겠다. 밥솥이 안 좋아서 그런가, 무슨 쌀로 해도 그렇게 맛있지는 않다. 다만, 다른 현미들보다 맛이 나쁘지는 않았기 때문에, 문제가 없다고 보면 될 것 같다.

장점인지 단점인지 모르겠지만, 발아력이 매우 강하다. 쌀을 씻으면 쌀알이 싱크대 수채구에 걸리는데, 다른 현미들도 발아를 좀 하긴 하지만, 이 쌀은 무슨 쌀알들이 거의 100% 발아를 한다. 즉 수채구 청소를 안 하면, 마치 그 안이 콩나물 시루처럼 된다. 물론, 감자처럼 그냥 두면 발아를 하는 게 아니고, 물에 닿았을 때에만 발아를 한다는 것이다.

Directly launch a web page in the Reader Mode of FireFox.

I have created another app. Basically it solves the two problems I had.

1. I need an option to open a web page directly to FireFox's Reader Mode

For example, I use Google's News & Weather app. My default web browser was set to Chrome, so it opened the news in Chrome. But I thought it was an in-built article viewer. It had a "Share" icon so that I can send the URL to another app. But unfortunately, FireFox had only "Add to FireFox", which shows an additional cumbersome menu, and even then it did not open the page in Reader Mode. I had to wait until the page is fully loaded (because the Reader Mode button only appears then) and then tap the Reader Mode button. Repeating this was very annoying.

My app, "Reader launcher for FireFox", solves that. If I choose this app instead of "Add to FireFox", it will launch the article in the Reader Mode directly, without waiting for the page to be loaded. Boy, you cannot imagine how convenient it is for me.

2. My default browser is Chrome, but I open only the URL's from specific apps with FireFox's Reader Mode.

Then I found out that News & Weather does not have its own article viewer. When I click an item, it just opens the article with the default browser. My default browser is Chrome, and I do not want to change it to FireFox. My app can also solve this problem.

My app registers itself as a web browser. So, if I click an article in the News & Weather app, it asks me to choose the default browser. My app has a setting for specifying the apps so that only the URL's received from those apps will be opened in the Reader Mode. Otherwise, the URL's will be opened in the default browser, such as Chrome.

With my setting, when I click an article in the News & Weather app, the article is instantly and directly opened in the Reader Mode of FireFox, but if I open web links in other apps, they are opened in Chrome. Now I can conveniently, and pleasantly use the News & Weather app.

Get Google Now back instead of Google Assistant when you long-press the home button.

Android's Google search app was recently updated. When you long-press the home button, it used to show the Google Now screen (where you can see information such as weather before you search), but now it shows the conversational Google Assistant.

I personally did not like the Google Assistant, and wanted Google Now back. After searching the web, I found that it is not possible. There is a hack, though: changing your language to something weird such as "U.S. Virgin Islands". I tried it, and it did work. But that might affect other apps. So I kept look for a better solution.

I could not find a better solution. So, I came up with an idea. What if I create an app that poses as a search assistant and launches Google Now? So I made the app. The app is called Loader for Now, and it is available on Google Play Store. It is a paid app, though. I am sorry for that, but I need some money to live. I wanted to select a very low price like 0.1 GBP or USD, but unfortunately, the minimum allowed price was 0.5 GBP and 0.99 USD.

When you install Loader for Now, you need to set it as the default search assistant. The app itself provide an explanation and shortcut for that, so it is not difficult to use at all. Just do that, and long-pressing will launch the good old Google Now again. Very simple.

Behind stories

I submitted the app 3 times before it was accepted by Google. At first I named the app "Google Now Loader". It was rejected because the app's name started with "Google", which might make the app appear to be endorsed by Google (which is actually not very likely for my case).

So, I renamed the app to "Loader for Now", and put a bold disclaimer at the start of the app description, something like "This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google". I re-submitted the app, but it was rejected again. The reason was that it contained "Google Now" in the description. But how can I explain what my app does without the word "Google Now", when the only thing it does is launching Google Now?

Anyways, I had to remove "Google" or "Google Now" in descriptions, blurred the Google logo promotion image and re-submitted it. Finally it was accepted.

The problem is... searching the Play Store does not show my app. I mean, I searched the Store for "Loader for Now", and weird, unrelated apps showed in the result, not my app. Then I tried searching for "Google Now search Assistant". I understand that my app was not showing at the top of the search result, but there were very many unrelated apps like games, and I kept scrolling down but my app still did not show up. Why should completely unrelated games be listed before my app, when my app is actually related to the search words? I shall never know...

After some try, I concluded that it would probably be impossible for users to find my app by searching the Store for related keywords, so I created this post where I can freely use the word "Google Now", which would make it easy for potential users to discover my app.

물건 못 받았을 때 이베이 (미국) 고객센터에 전화해서 환불 받기

지난 달에 이베이에서 몇 만 원 정도하는 물건을 중국 판매자에게 주문했다. 무료 배송인데, 다들 알겠지만, 중국에서 한국까지 무료로 오는 저가 제품은 운송장 번호도 없고 그냥 마냥 한 달을 기다려서 받아야 한다. 한 달을 기다렸는데, 물건이 안 왔다.

예전에도 이베이에서 물건을 여러 번 사 봤지만 늦으면 늦었지 못 받은 적은 없었다. 한 달이 지나도 안 오면, 이베이 사이트에 가서 판매자에게 연락하기 옵션을 눌러 못 받았다고 메시지를 보내면, 좀 더 기다려 보라는 등의 답장은 판매자로부터 받을 수 있다.

그런데 이번에는 판매자가 묵묵부답이다.  예정 도착일은 10월 7일까지였다. 도착 안 하길래 7일 밤에 판매자에게 메시지를 보냈다. 그런데 아무런 답장이 없었다. 그래서 10월 10일에 이베이 사이트에서 "물건 못 받았다" 케이스를 열었다. 판매자가 10월 13일까지 응답을 안 하면 이베이 측으로 알려 달라는 메시지가 나왔다.

10월 13일이 되었는데도 판매자로부터 아무 응답이 없었다. 14일이 되자 이베이 측에서 자동 메일이 왔다. "물건을 받았느냐?  판매자가 응답을 하지 않았으면 우리에게 연락해라. 11월 9일까지 연락 안 하면 물건을 받은 걸로 알겠다."라는 내용이었다. 그래서 이베이 홈페이지에 가 봤다. 그런데 해당 케이스에 대해 판매자의 무응답을 이베이측에 알리는 기능이 없었다. 케이스에는 "판매자에게 메일 보내기"와 "문제가 해결되었다"라는 두 가지 옵션만 있었다. 이게 뭐야...

그래서 이베이 고객센터에 바로 연락하는 방법을 찾아 봤다. 고객센터 연락 메뉴는 있었고, 그걸 누르니 연락 옵션은 두 개밖에 없었다. "전화를 내가 걸기"와 "내게 전화를 걸어라". 말로 하는 것보다 이메일이 편한데, 메일 옵션이 없었다. 국제 전화비를 아끼고자 "내개 전화를 걸어라"를 고르려고 했는데, 전화 번호 입력란에 한국이 없었다.  내가 전화를 거는 옵션을 누르니 866으로 시작하는 미국 전화 번호와 "너의 신원과 너의 문제를 빨리 확인할 수 있는" 7자리 one-time passcode가 나왔다. 물건도 못 받아서 짜증나는데 국제 전화비까지 내가 써야 하나 싶어서, (잔액이 0원이어서 유료 전화는 안 걸리는) 스카이프로 테스트해 봤다. 그런데 걸리더라. 검색해 보니 866도 800처럼 무료 전화 번호였다. 다만 800 등은 미국 내에서만 무료이고, 한국에서 걸면 무료가 아니라는 걸 예전에 어디에서 들었기 때문에 스카이프로 걸어야만 무료일 것이다.

전화는 곧바로 연결되었다. 자연스러운 영어 음성이 나오는데, 처음에는 사람인 줄 알았다. 하지만 곧 프로그램임을 확신했다. 내 아이디의 첫 네 글자를 말하라는데, 말을 하고 나니 엉뚱하게 읽고는 그 네 글자가 맞느냐는 것이었다. 즉, 음성 인식 기능을 이용한 프로그램으로, 전화를 건 사람의 신원과 문제의 분류를 확인하는 것까지는 자동으로 하고, 그 후 실제 상담원에게 연결하는 것이다. 문제는... 몇 번 말했는데 자꾸 틀리게 인식하길래, 아까 나왔던 7자리 one-time passcode를 그냥 눌러 봤다. 안 통했다. 이러려면 7자리 코드는 왜 생성한 건가?

어쨌든 몇 번 다시 시도해 아이디를 인식시켰더니, 그 다음은 문제를 짧게 말하라고 한다. 간단하게 말했더니 "케이스에 관한 것이다. 맞지?" 이런 응답이 나왔다. 아마 문장에서 "케이스"라는 단어를 추출해서 인식한 것 같다. 사실 꼭 Siri나 Google Now 음성과 대화하는 것 같았다. "YES", "NO"같은 대답을 인식한다. "Yes"라고 했더니 상담원을 연결해 준다고 하고, 곧바로 상담원과 연결되었다.

상담원 비용을 아끼려고 미국 업체가 인도 상담원을 쓰는 걸 풍자하는 걸 많이 봐서 이상한 억양의 상담원을 예상했는데, 의외로 그냥 평범한 미국 아줌마 목소리가 나왔다. 내 이메일 주소를 불러 달라고 해서 불러 주었다. 그리고는 아이디 앞 네 자리 부르라고 하고, 그리고는 전화 번호를 묻는데 무슨 전화 번호로 등록했는지 잘 기억이 안 났다. 미국 사이트라... 한국 전화 번호로 등록 안 했을 수도 있기 때문이다. 뭐 어쨌든 그냥 한국 전화 번호 불러 주었다. 우편 번호를 말하라는데 예전에 가입한 거라 우편 번호를 뭘로 했는지 기억이 안 났다. 최근 우편 번호가 다 바뀌기도 했고. 그래서 그냥 옛날 우편 번호 불러 줬는데, 지금 확인해 보니 계정에 등록한 우편 번호는 그 게 아니었다. 우편 번호가 틀렸는데도 그냥 넘어간 걸 보면 별로 중요한 건 아닌 것 같다. 그리고는 해당 물품의 item number를 불러 달라고 한다.

내 예상으로는 one-time passcode를 누르면 자동으로 내 계정과 해당 물품 번호 등이 자동으로 다 연결되어 상담원에게 보여질 거라고 생각했기 때문에, 이런 복잡하고 긴 절차를 왜 하는지 의문이었다. 상담원에게 "홈페이지에 one-time passcode가 있었는데 그 걸 불러 줄까"했더니, (내가 제대로 알아 들었다면) 상담원이 "그 번호는 계정 확인 등 지금까지의 절차를 빠르게 하기 위해 있는 거다"라는 응답을 했다. 사실 내 말이 그 거다. 애초에 그러면 그냥 그 one-time passcode가 있느냐고 바로 묻지, 왜 아이디니, 메일 주소니, 우편 번호니 이런 걸 귀찮게 묻느냐는 거다. 뭐 상담원하고 따질 건 아니니까 그냥 대강 넘어갔다. 아마 이베이 시스템이 유기적으로 제대로 구성된 게 아닌 것 같다.

상담원이 문제가 뭐냐고 해서, "날짜가 지났는데 물건도 못 받았고, 케이스를 열었는데 답장도 안 온다"고 했더니, 잠시 확인한다고 기다리라고 한 후, "판매자가 응답을 안 하면 이베이 측이 개입해서 전액 환불해 줄 수 있다. 그런데 그 게 10월 17일부터 가능하다"고 대답했다. 이런 내용이 왜 홈페이지에서 확인이 안 되는 건가! 애초에 홈페이지 케이스 페이지에서 10월 17일까지 판매자로부터 응답이 없으면 이베이가 개입해 환불하도록 신청할 수 있다고 나와 있었으면 굳이 내가 오늘 전화를 안 걸었을 것이 아닌가.

뭐 어쨌든.... 10월 17일이 되면 이베이 측에서 다시 메일이 갈 것이고, 그 메일의 지시에 따르면 다시 고객센터로 전화하는 번거로움 없이, 홈페이지에서 이베이가 개입해 환불해 주도록 요구할 수 있다고 한다.

이마트에서 점포 상품만 표시하게 하기

Chrome 브라우저의 최대 장점은 익스텐션일 것이다. 그동안 남들이 만든 익스텐션들을 유용하게 쓰고 있었고, 가끔 나도 익스텐션을 만들어 볼까 하는 생각은 했지만, Javascript를 안 건드린 지가 거의 10년 가까이 되었고, 그동안 Javascript의 사용이 폭발적으로 늘면서 너무나 많이 바뀌고 늘어나서, 다시 하려면 시간이 많이 걸릴 것 같아 매번 그냥 지나쳤었다.

그런데, 결국 이마트 사이트의 불편함을 견디지 못하고 직접 익스텐션을 만들게 되었다. 이마트 사이트에는 점포 물건과 택배 물건이 있다. 점포 물건만 합쳐서 배송이 가능하다. 그래서 점포 물건만 골라 담아야 하는데, 문제는 상품 목록에 저것들이 섞여 있다는 것이다. 점포 상품만 표시하도록 체크박스에 체크를 하면 되지만, 페이지가 바뀔 때마다 매번 체크하는 게 아주 귀찮고 시간이 드는 일이었다. 그래서 디폴트로 점포 물건만 보이게 하는 익스텐션을 만들었다.

chrome web store에서 설치하기

구글이 제공하는 개발 문서와, 구글 검색해 찾은 예제, 그리고 Stack Overflow 등을 참조해서 만들었고, 완전히 처음부터 시작했는데 90% 완성하는 데까지 6시간 정도밖에 안 걸렸다. 그 후에는 버그 수정이나 아이콘 작성, 코드 줄 맞추기... (Javascript의 기본 코딩 스타일이 내가 좋아하는 스타일이 아닌데, 에디터가 자꾸 그렇게 바꾸고, 어떻게 그걸 끄는지 못 찾았다) 등에 시간이 좀 걸렸다. 개발에 특별한 도구는 필요하지 않고, 그냥 일반적 텍스트 에디터와 Chrome 브라우저의 개발자 도구 (F12 누르면 나옴)를 이용하면 된다. 언어는 Javascript 그리고 웹의 기본인 HTTP, HTML, XPath 등을 이해하면 된다.

다만, 소위 gotcha라고 하는 게 역시 좀 있어서, 당연히 문제가 없는 코드라고 작성하고 실행해 보면 원하는 결과가 안 나와서 디버깅하느라 시간을 많이 보내다가 Stack Overflow 검색해 보면 이상한 이유가 있는 경우가 있다. 예를 들면 popup.html에 Javascript를 넣었더니 동작을 하지 않았다. 스크립트 자체가 잘못되었나 싶어 수정하고 계속해 봐도 안 된다. 알고 보니 popup.html에 바로 Javascript를 넣으면 안 되고 링크를 해야 한단다. 그래서 code.js로 빼고 실행해 봤더니 그래도 일부가 동작을 안 한다. 테스트 결과 결론은, code.js 파일에서도 이벤트 핸들러 등록하는 등의 코드만 동작하고 alert("test") 등의 일반 코드는 함수 외부에서 동작을 안 한다는 것이었다. 여기서 한 시간은 소모한 것 같다.

어쨌든 완성을 하고 보니, 자기가 만든 익스텐션이라도 그냥은 쓸 수가 없었다. 개발자 모드로 압축되지 않은 익스텐션을 등록해 놓으면, Chrome 브라우저를 실행할 때마다 브라우저가 멈추면서 개발자 모드로 등록한 익스텐션은 위험할 수 있다는 경고 문구가 뜬다. 물론 내가 만든 익스텐션이니 경고 문구를 그냥 무시하고 닫으면 되지만, 브라우저를 실행할 때마다 경고를 보려니 짜증이 났다. 경고를 안 나오게 하는 방법이 있나 찾아 보니, 보안 문제로 없다고 한다. CRX로 만들어 마치 예전에 웹 사이트에서 익스텐션을 다운로드해 설치하듯이 설치를 해 봤다. 처음에는 잘 동작을 했는데, Chrome을 재시작하면 보안 문제로 스토어에서 받지 않은 익스텐션은 제거해야 한다면서 비활성화해 버린다. 제거하지 않는 옵션은 없었다. 즉, 쓸 수가 없었다. 결국, 자기가 만든 익스텐션이라도 마음 편하게 쓰려면 스토어에 등록하고 스토어에서 다시 받아서 설치해야 하는 것이다.

그래서 내가 만든 익스텐션을 스토어에 등록(publish)하려니 요금을 내라고 한다. 5 달러라는데...  굳이 5 달러를 받아야 하는가 하는 생각이 들었지만, 안 내면 등록이 안 되었기 때문에 결제를 했다. 결제 후 등록 버튼은 곧바로 눌러졌고 등록된 것처럼 보였지만, 실제 스토어 검색 결과에 내가 등록한 게 나오기까지는 몇 시간 정도 걸렸다. 그리고 외국에서는 필요가 없는 익스텐션이라 접근 가능한 국가를 한국만으로 한정하려고 했는데, 국가 목록에 한국이 안 보였다. 일본이나 중국, 대만, 베트남 등도 있는데 한국이 왜 없는지 의문이다. 결국 포기하고 그냥 전세계에서 접근 가능하도록 설정했다.

익스텐션 개발의 기본을 익혔으니... 이제 나머지 다른 사이트의 불편한 점도 익스텐션을 만들어 해결해 봐야겠다.

Do not install EaseUs Partition Master and their other products. They are scams.

Last year, I accidentally deleted a partition metadata. Not the data itself, but just the metadata. Knowing that the data was still there, I wanted to restore the files. So I tried many data recovery software. None of them were really good and I eventually gave up. One free software was the EaseUs Data Recovery. It was a trial version. I scanned the disk with it. After a lengthy scan it showed files... but fake files. The drive was a data only drive; I did not install Windows on it. But EaseUs' software showed common Windows system directories and files. And then it wanted me to buy the full version to recover those files. That was obviously a scam.

Today, I wanted to resize the Windows partition, so I tried some softwares including EaseUs Partition Master free edition. I made sure not to be tricked to install their other complementary software with it, and I unchecked the customer feedback (i.e., marketing surveillance).

First, it could not resize the C drive as I wanted. Secondly, it started automatically on Windows startup, and wanted to "clean some junk files" for me. Yeah, and notice that EaseUs is a Chinese company, Cheng Du. What is wrong with Chinese companies and spams? They always try this.

A partition manager wants to start automatically to clean your system.

Yeah, improve the system performance... right.

Remember ES File Explorer (by a Chinese company)? I liked it until, they tried to sneak in some system cleaning feature to a file manager. Why does a file manager want to clean my system? Also, I have found that ES File Explorer is constantly running in the background, submitting usage data to their server through ADB log. The Go Dev team is another famous Chinese Android developer. I liked the Go SMS and Keyboard at first, but then they started spam me with unnecessary announcements, features etc. So I ended up deleting all their products. So many Chinese developers are practicing this.

Do not install EaseUs products unless you want to lose your personal data, or be scammed.

우리 나라 사이트들만 하는 이상한 짓거리들

방금 우리 나라 모 대형 쇼핑몰 사이트에서 이메일이 왔다. 내용은 별 것이 없었다. 개인 정보 보호를 위해서는 비밀 번호를 다른 사람이 추측하기 어려운 것으로 만들어야 하며, 사전에 있는 단어를 써서 만들면 안 되며, 같은 비밀 번호를 여러 사이트에 이용하면 안 되며, 6개월에 한 번씩 바꿔 줘야 한다는 식의 내용이었다. 미친 소리이다. 그리고 나는 무조건 사이트 가입하면 광고 이메일 안 받게 설정하는데 이건 왜 보냈으며, 수신 거부 링크도 없고, 발신 전용이니 할 말 있으면 로그인해서 따져라는 식의 안내만 달려 있었다.

낮에는 사용 중인 우리 나라 모 은행에서, 사용하지 않은 현금카드가 중지된다는 제목의 이메일이 왔었는데, 내용은 "안전하게 암호화"했단다. 그러니, Windows PC에서 ActiveX 설치한 뒤, 주민등록번호 앞 여섯 자리 넣고 보란다.

왜 우리 나라 사이트들만 이 지랄인지 모르겠다. 법적으로 정해져 있는 건가, 아니면 한 군데에서 하면 다들 따라 하는 건가?

비밀 번호는 이미 통제 불능 상태이다. 대안책이나 마련해라.

이미 대부분의 사람들이 최소 100개 이상의 웹 사이트나 온라인 서비스를 이용하고 이용하고 있을 것이다. 100개를 전부 추측하기 어려운 것으로 만들고, 6개월에 한 번씩 바꿔 봐라. 물론, 대형 사이트가 하나 유출되면 모든 사이트 비밀 번호를 다 바꾸기를 권장받는 것은 보너스이다. 비밀 번호를 쉽고 빠르게 바꿀 수 있는 무슨 통합 인터페이스가 있는 것도 아니고, 하나하나 사이트 로그인해서, 또 비밀 번호 바꾼다고 휴대전화 인증이나 i-Pin 인증 거치고, 다시 비밀 번호 넣고 저장하고 해 봐라. 한 사이트 당 5분밖에 안 걸린다고 치고, 쉬지도 않고 그 짓거리만 계속 하고 앉아 있는다고 쳐도 100*5= 8시간 걸린다. 6개월에 한 번 씩 하루 종일 걸려 비밀 번호 바꾸라고? 현실적으로 가능한 소리라고 보는가? 

비밀 번호를 저렇게 바꿔야 한다고 메일 보내는 담당자는 정말 그렇게 바꿔 가며 생활하고 있는가? 정부 관계자 중 직접 저 짓거리 하고 있는 인간 있으면 나와 봐라. 없을 수밖에 없다. 뭐, 돈 많으면 비서 시켜서 하고 있는 인간이 있을 수는 있겠지만.

우리 나라에 똑똑한 사람 많이 있지 않나? 비대칭 암호화 원리 등을 이용해 일회용 비밀 번호를 만들어주는 하드웨어 키를 모든 한국 사이트가 똑같이 도입하게 한다거나, 무슨 현실적인 방안을 마련할 생각은 안 하나? 언제까지 비밀 번호 복잡하게 하고 자주 바꾸라고 권유만 하고 앉아 있을 것인가?

그리고 비밀 번호 주기적으로 바꾸라고 귀찮게 이메일 보내는 것도 한국 사이트들밖에 없다. 아마존 등 외국의 대형 쇼핑몰 등은 저런 짓 안 한다. 얼마 전에 읽은 외국 기사에 따르면, 사용자에게 주기적으로 비밀 번호를 강제적으로 바꾸게 하면 오히려 보안성이 떨어진다고 한다. 사용자들이 어차피 자주 바꿔야 하니 기억하기 귀찮아서 기억하기 쉬운 것에다가 숫자만 하나 증가시킨다는가 하는 방법을 쓰기 때문이란다. 예를 들면 password1, 그 다음 번에는 password2 이렇게. 어차피 인간의 기억 능력은 정해져 있고, 모든 인간은 귀찮음을 이길 수 없다. 사용자의 편의성을 고려하지 않는 보안 정책은 성공하기 힘들다.

보안 메일은 도대체 어느 인간이 개발한 것인가?

오늘 받은 보안 메일을 어떻게 해서 열어 보니 별 것도 없었다. 카드 중지를 막기 위한 방법 (전화 걸어 무슨 코드 입력)이 솔직하게 내가 알고 싶은 것이었고, 그건 그냥 공개 정보였다. 보안 메일 속의 개인 정보라고는 카드 끝 네 자리와, 카드 개설일 뿐이었다. 별로 내가 알고 싶은 정보도 아니었다. 그 정보 빼고 그냥 카드 중지 막는 법만 메일로 보냈어도 됐을 것이다.

카드 중지에 관한 안내를 읽기 위해서, ActiveX를 설치하고 주민등록번호 앞자리 (즉, 생년월일)을 넣으라는 것인데, 도대체 이게 무슨 효과를 가진 것일까? 해커가 저 안내 메일을 열어 보았다고 치자. 그렇다면 이미 해커가 사용자의 메일 계정에 대한 권한을 가졌다는 것이 된다. 그 상태에서 해커가 그 사용자의 생년월일을 모를까? 받은 메일함을 뒤지거나, 소셜 사이트만 뒤져도 생일은 금방 알 수 있고, 생년은 대강 추측하면 된다. 20대로 보인다면 96부터 86까지 10번만 시도하면 될 것이다.

요즘 세상에 이미 메일 계정이 뚫렸다면 거의 더 이상 털릴 게 없는 상황인데, 거의 아무런 보안 효과도 없는, 생년월일 넣는 보안 메일이 도대체 무슨 의미를 가지는가? 그 짓거리 하기 전에 보내는 사람이 은행임을 증명할 수 있게, 메일이나 인증서로 서명해서 보내라. 저런 메일을 볼 때마다 드는 생각은, "아, 이거 응용하면 피싱 크게 해 먹을 수 있겠군" 이런 것이다. 아직도 대부분의 사람은 IT에 무지하고, 메일 내용을 의심하지 않고 첨부 파일도 그냥 열어 본다 (오늘 본 뉴스에 따르면 50% 사용자가 아무 첨부 파일이나 열어 본다고 한다). "카드 사용 중지 됩니다"라는 제목으로 스팸 메일을 만들어, "보안 메일입니다. 내용을 보시려면 보안 프로그램을 설치해야 합니다"라고 내용을 적고 바이러스에 걸린 파일을 넣어 뿌리면 분명 전국에서 수 백 명은 걸려 들겠지. 우리 나라 기업들의 보안 메일은 저런 상황을 조장하는 꼴밖에 안 된다.

외국의 유명 사이트를 많이 이용하지만 보안 메일이라는 개 쓰레기 같은 것을 보내는 사이트는 우리 나라 사이트들 뿐이다. 하다못해 휴대전화요금 고지서도 보안 메일로 보낸다. 내 휴대 전화 요금 얼마 나왔는지 해커가 알아서 어디에 써 먹는다고. 내 메일 계정 보안에 신경 쓰지 말고, 당신네 회사 보안 유지에만 신경 써라. 인터파크처럼 직원이 IT 기초 지식도 없어서 이메일에 첨부된 스크린세이버 (Windows 프로그래밍 해 본 사람이면 스크린세이버는 exe를 src로 확장자만 바꾼 것이라는 것을 안다) 실행해서 천 만 명 고객 정보 유출되게 하지 말고.

I have removed a squashed dead bug from my LCD monitor.

I successfully removed a dead squashed bug from my Dell U2412M monitor. Since I believe the internal structure of many LCD monitors are more or less the same, I am writing this post in case other people in similar situation want to know how to remove the dead bug.

How I got the dead bug

A couple of months ago,  I saw a small dot-like thing was moving on my computer monitor, Dell U2412M. I squashed it, but I could not find the carcass of the bug. I figured out that the bug was NOT on the surface of the monitor, but was inside of the monitor, because there was a dark spot where I squashed the bug. Scrubbing the surface could not remove the spot.

I searched the web and found that many people have found bugs (either dead or alive) inside their monitor. Some were stuck with the dead bug permanently lodged in their screen. I read the comments and replies, but all of them were saying "You are out of luck. There is no way to remove it."

So, I was living with the dead bug permanently at the right centre of my screen. It was not always obvious, especially when the screen is not bright, but it kept *bugging* me. I was thinking about selling it at a cheap price. How much could I get by selling this monitor? If I lucky, perhaps $100?

Preparation

After it living the dead bug for months, I decided to take the risk. I had no previous experience of opening computer monitors at all. I could destroy the monitor completely. Currently, at least I can use the monitor, albeit the dead bug is bugging me. But then I thought it could be just $100 loss if I destroy it. Well, life is full of tough choices, isn't it?

I searched the web again for the internal structure of LCD monitors and panels. Fortunately, my model U2412M is a quite popular model worldwide. I could find a "de-bezel" video of this model on YouTube. From that video, I learned how to take of the bezel and the back plastic casing. Then I watched quite a lot of LCD panel disassembly videos on YouTube. Basically it is a few layers of panels inside a flat rectangle metal casing. At the front there is the glass LCD panel. Beneath that are the plastic films for defusing the backlight. Beneath that is the back-light glass panel.

Execution

Today, I finally tried to remove the bug. Opening the bezel was relatively easy. It did not need any tool. There were many latches, and I broke only one of them. Removing the back plastic casing was also very easy. All I had to take a caution about was removing the cable that connected the control panel and the USB port at the side of the monitor.

Now, the hard part: opening the metal casing of the LCD panel. There were 4 small screws at the back of the LCD panel. And the a long thin panel at the back of it, could be easily removed by removing the 3 small screws. Yet the problem was the latches all around the metal casing. There was no video explaining how to remove it. A web site description said that latches can be easily opened by prying it with a flat screw driver. But I was worried about damaging the glass LCD panel. I wasted a lot of time (1 hour?) on this. Finally, I pried open all  latches by inserting the flat screw driver from behind of the latches.

The bottom side of the glass LCD panel was connected to the backlight module, but other sides (top, left, right) were not connected to anything at all. So I could just lift the glass panel from the top without disconnecting anything. As I suspected, beneath the glass LCD panel and the plastic diffuser film, was the dead, squashed bug. You imbecile! Of all the place you could go, why did you go there? Anyways, I removed the squashed carcass of the bug. But while doing so, many small dusts got into it. I think I could have removed many of the dusts if there was another person who was holding the LCD panel compartment bottom side up. That way, the dusts could have fallen into the floor. But since I worked alone, I laid the LCD compartment on the floor. The fallen dusts stayed on the diffuser film. I removed as much dusts I can with my hand, but it was almost impossible to remove them all.

See the cross-section of Dell U2412M below (the terms may not be correct, because I just named them). In short,

1. Remove the bezel (black)
2. Remove the rear case (sky blue)
3. Remove the panel compartment front casing (purple)
4. Lift the glass LCD panel (green)
5. Remove the bug

Result

Fortunately, those many small dusts seem to have little effect on the actual screen. I put everything together and cleaned the outer surface. I did not measure the total elapsed time, but I guess it might have taken about 3 hours. Now the dead bug is gone and I can hardly see any dusts. There is a small faint one around the left bottom of the screen, which I cannot remember if it was there before or added today. But it is far better than having a dead bug at the centre of the screen. And if I really do not like it, I think I can open the monitor again and clean it. This time it would take about 1 hour.

Microsoft's weird Japanese high school girl AI -- disappointed

I just saw a weird article on a Japanese news app. It was something called a Japanese high school girl AI, Rinna (りんな). Normally, I would have ignored it as another weird lusty daydream of Japanese otakus. But it was from Microsoft! Well, if it is made by Microsoft, it must be something... or so I thought.

So, I added this Microsoft Japanese high school girl AI to the Line app. As soon as I added 'her', it flooded me with a few messages. It pretended to be a real high school girl and expressed canned excitements to be my 'friend'.

There are so many AI chat programs these days, but the chat AI I want is something that really can understand the human language, even at an 8-year old level, not just responding to some words in the input. Can Rinna be that kind of AI? So I gave it a try.

I typed "Tomorrow's weather forecast.", which is probably what the majority of users would type when they need to input or say something to an AI, such as Google Now or Siri. Then it responded, "The weather forecast of where do you want to know?" Then I typed, "Not Tokyo, but Kumamoto." This is the kind of test I did to the AI on Ray Kurzweil's home page: a simple twist of language but any 8-year old  human child could easily understand. Ray Kurzweil's AI failed to answer correctly.

Rinna responded, "You are too greedy! Just one place, please." It seems the AI only extracted the two place names from my input, but did not really understand my sentence. So, I gave it another twisted input. I typed, "Anywhere but Kumamoto." 

Is this Microsoft Japanese high school girl AI human-enough to show the weather of another city? Sadly, no. It just showed me the weather of Kumamoto (with a nice picture, meaning the programmers expected this). Obviously, it does not really understand my natural language at all. It just seems to have extracted certain words from my input and responded to them.

I do not know why Microsoft created this or why they chose to advertise it as a Japanese high school girl. Perhaps it could be a good substitute for real high school girls to lonely Japanese boys or oyaji (middle-aged men). But this is not the kind of AI I wanted to see. Ray Kurzweil promised that we would be able to simulate human brain with a computer by 2029. That is just 13 years from now. Why can't I still find a single AI that can really understand the basic human language yet?

Update

This "AI" is utterly useless. It did not answer any of my questions even remotely relevantly, except for something the programmers had likely expected and prepared answers for. For example, I asked its birthday. It said it was born on 20th February, 1996. Then I asked its age. It said it was 16 years old. Then I asked how it can be 16 years old, if it was born in 1996 (it is 2016 now). You know what its answer was? "That is so young! (わっか!)" Utterly, utterly useless AI. In fact, I refuse to call it an artificial intelligent. I think even I could program this.

인터파크 해킹 사건, 그런데 아직도 정신을 차린 걸로 보이지 않는 이유

항상 느끼는 것이지만, 국내 웹 IT 환경은 뭔가 외국의 메인 스트림의 그것과 다르다. 다른 게, 국내 사이트마다 제각각인 게 아니라, 국내 사이트들끼리 서로서로 베낀 것처럼, 같은 방식으로 다르다. 마치 한 명의 한국인 마스터마인드가 있고 다른 한국인 엔지니어들이 그 사람으로부터 배워서 따라하는 게 아닌가 하는 생각이 들 정도이다.

Gmail을 보다가 심심해서 스팸 디렉터리를 클릭해 보았다. 목록에 보낸이 [인터파크] 제목 [개인정보 침해 사고 관련 안내드립니다.]라는 항목이 있었다. Gmail은 목록에서 본문의 앞 부분을 보여 주기 때문에 본문이 좀 보여야 하는데 제목만 있었다. 뭔가 싶어 열어 보았다. 외국의 대부분의 메일 서비스들은 보안을 위해 메일 본문에 들어가 있는 외부 이미지를 막는다. 이 메일은 달랑 외부 이미지 하나로만 구성되어서, 본문이 텅 비어 아무 것도 보이지 않았다. 스팸이 이런 짓거리를 많이 하는데, 아마 그래서 Gmail 필터가 스팸으로 분류한 게 아닌가 한다.

이미지 표시 버튼을 누르면 표시가 되는데, 스팸일 경우를 대비해, 실제 인터파크 해킹 사고가 있었나 구글을 검색해 보니 정말 있었다. 그래서 이미지를 표시 버튼을 눌러 보았다.

뭐 단순한 것이었다. 그냥 큰 제목으로 유출 안내 드린다고 적혀 있고, 플레인 텍스트로 몇 문단의 설명이 있었으며, 아래에는 유출 여부 조회한다는 큰 텍스트 버튼이 있었다. 이 정도면 텍스트로 해도 충분히 가능한 것인데, 액세서빌리티 무시하고, 보안도 무시하고, 본문을 통짜로 이미지로 만들어 외부 링크로 넣어 보냈다. 물론 보낸이를 증명할 수 있는 디지털 서명된 메일도 아니다.

본문 내용은 변명으로  보였다. 멍청한 직원 한 명의 실수로 악성 코드 첨부 파일을 실행해 개인 정보가 유출되었으면 그냥 그 사실을 전달할 것이지, "인터파크는 .. 개인정보관리체계 인증을 획득한 바 있고, 개인 정보 보호 및 보안에 많은 노력을 기울여 왔는데도..." 해킹을 당했다고 변명조로 설명하고 있었다. 개인정보관리체계 인증도 별 거 아닌 게 분명하군, 직원 한 명만 속이면 1000만 건이 뚫리는 시스템인데.

자, 그러면 이 메일의 핵심 문제는 뭔가... 개인정보 유출 조회 버튼이다. 누르면 HTTPS도 아니고 HTTP인 사이트로 연결되며, 유출 상태를 확인하기 위해 인터파크 ID/비밀 번호를 입력하라고 한다. 초대형 쇼핑몰 사이트이고, 아마 수 백 억 원 돈을 벌고 있을 텐데, 로그인하는 페이지에 몇 십 만 원 밖에 안 하는 EV 인증서도 못 다나? 해커들이 이런 식으로 메일을 보내 인터파크 계정 털기에 딱 좋다. 메일 주소를 admin@interpark.com으로 적어 보내는 것은 식은 죽 먹기이며 (실제 우편을 보낼 때 보내는 사람 주소를 아무렇게나 적을 수 있는 것과 똑같다), 본문에 버튼 추가해서, 인터파크 로그인 페이지처럼 생긴 사이트 만들어 주소는 대강 interparrk.com 뭐 이렇게 해 두면, 분명히 속아 넘어 가서 자신의 인터파크 ID/비밀 번호 넣는 사람이 나올 거다. 한국 대기업들이 전부 이런 식으로 메일을 보내니 사용자들이 이런 것에 익숙해져서 별 의심 없이 그렇게 행동하는 습관이 조장되는 것인데, 피해자가 나오면 사용자의 탓으로 돌리겠지.

요약하자면 인터파크 메일의 문제는

• 본문을 통짜 이미지로 만들어 외부 링크로 넣어 보냄 (액세서빌리티 무시. 스팸으로 오인될 확률 증가. 많은 국내 대기업들도 똑같은 짓거리를 함).
• 본문에 쓸데 없는 변명.
• 본문에 사이트 로그인하는 버튼을 추가해 보냄 (피싱에 아주 좋음)
• 버튼을 눌러 열린 로그인 페이지가 HTTP임 (피싱에 좋음)

외국 사이트들은 안 그런데, 정말 한국 사이트들은 왜 이럴까? 언제 쯤 빌어 먹을 ActiveX 보안 메일이 사라질까?

There is nothing mythically good about the human body.

I have just started watching the Galaxy Express 999. It is an old Japanese animation (broadcast in 1978), and it was famous in Korea. I think I watched several episodes of it when I was a kid, but I did not watch the entire series, so I have little memory of it. A lot of people mention this animation as if it has some deep philosophical meanings, so I decided to give it a try.

I have watched only the first two episodes so far. Basically, the story seems to be that a poor young boy travels to a distant planet where he can transform his body into a mechanical body for free. The show takes place in some year 2200s, where humans are basically divided into two groups: the rich and the poor. The rich class live on the surface and the rest of humans live underground. The rich class seems to live like today's normal middle class humans, but they have transformed their body into seemingly hideous mechanical body (think about the robot C-3PO from the Star Wars), and enjoy the disease-free eternal life. The poor class cannot afford the mechanical body and live in a situation that seem to be worse than that of today's Africa. A boy from the poor class and his mother try to escape to a city on the surface where they could get on a space train that will transfer them to a distant planet where they can get free mechanical bodies.

Now, some of the rich class enjoy hunting the poor class humans with guns as if they were animals, despite the fact that they both speak the same language. They killed the boy's mother and tried to make her as a stuffed animal. Do you think this is a probable future? I can hardly think it would be. Even today, most humans object to hunting and killing human-like animals such as gorillas or chimpanzees for fun. So, why would a society, that has so advanced that they can even transform human bodies would allow hunting and killing humans who even speak the same language? The author just probably wanted to make the future look gloomy and wanted to tell that there is something wrong with the mechanical bodies even though it was very unlikely.

I already get what the author is trying to say after watching just two episodes

In the second episode, the boy arrives at Mars. The people on Mars already have mechanical bodies but they are so unhappy for some unknown reason. An old man has only his one leg replaced with mechanical leg because he could not afford the full body transformation. At the end of the episode, the old man says something like this.

"Only my mechanical leg is healthy and the rest of my body is dying. Soon I will die. No one knows if it is the only good thing to living long. I now think that the best thing is to live naturally and to die naturally. People who could not die when they should have are miserable."

I have just watched like 2% of the show, but I think I can kind of predict what the whole story would be like. Something like "It is natural the way we are now, do not try to change!" Well, I disagree with the author completely. The author says as if there is something that has been decided by some superior being that we humans should not change. There is no such thing.

So, what is natural, anyway?

If you ask it to people 20,000 years ago, they would say that living naturally is roaming on bare foot all day long for some fruits or dead animal carcusses. They would say that dying naturally is either death by starvation or disease, or eaten by large predators such as lions. They did not have any medicines we have now. A simple wound could have killed them due to bacteria infection, and that was natural. See, no animals in the wild use antibiotics! Most humans probably could not live up to 30. This miserable way of living is probably the most natural thing in a sense, just like wild animals.

If you ask what natural for humans is to people 1000 years ago, they would say that living naturally is either working on a farm all day long. Death by simple disease that we can cure now would be a very natural death for them. The average human life expectancy was less than 60.

So what do you think is natural? Do you think it is natural that your body's immune system gets weak at the age round 80 and you die of complications from diseases? Don't you think it is just a quite arbitrary idea drown by what you happen to be accustomed to? Who decided dying at the age 80 is the natural way? We modern humans happen to live up to age 80 now, but that does not mean we should live up to only about 80. No one, and nothing has fixed that. People in the future who may have found cures for various disease that we cannot currently cure, may live up to 150 years and they would think it is natural for humans to live up to the age 150. There may even be some sort of philosophical novel about why it is natural to live up to the age 150 and it is unnatural to live longer than that.

Almost all medical practices are unnatural. Animals usually die when they get diseases after suffering horrible pains. Early humans also died like that. If you think it is so important to live and die naturally, why cure diseases? It is very arbitrary and annoying that people define what we currently can do to be natural, and what we currently cannot do unnatural.

Face it, humans bodies have so many problems

We are all covered with dust mites which are disgusting and may cause allergies. Parasitic worms are crawling and mating on the eyelashes of 80% of people. Toxoplasma gondii, the brain controlling parasites, live in the brains of 30% of people. And there are a lot of other parasites that even people in the developed countries harbor.

Even a single organ failure could be deadly. For example, no matter how smart you are, if your liver fails, your brain dies with it. What a loss.

Your beauty starts to fade at about age 40 as your skin gets loose and weak. Your eye gets dim and eventually you can hardly live without glasses. Your old body cannot defend itself against new influenzas, so you will have to be vaccinated each year.

A lot of time and efforts should be taken just to take care of your body. Sleeping takes 1/3 of your entire life, eating could take several hours a day if you prepare your own food. You like sleeping and eating? Good for you, but some people do not, but they have to do those anyway.

It is very annoying that most authors depict that humans bodies have some inherent greatness that cyborg bodies can never have. I think they are just dreaming. Sure, the early cyborgs should not be as good as human bodies. But that is as if when the first digital cameras came out, fans of analogue cameras were arguing that digital cameras might be convenient but their picture quality was so low, and would never be as good as that of analogue cameras. Technology improves faster over time. Now, digital cameras can take pictures as good as analogue cameras, and few people miss analogue cameras.

Cyborg bodies will be improving fast. If they become just as good as the humans bodies, I mean if your brain cannot feel any difference, and it never gets any disease, requires little of your maintenance so that you can spend your time on the things you love, what advantages would a biological human body have? 

Do you hate the idea that we humans live unnaturally long?

Are you like the old man in the second episode of Galaxy Express 999? Do you think it would be miserable not to be able to die naturally? No one will force you to live long. We will be just given of choices. Currently we die at about age 80 whether we would like to live longer or not. When we can transform our bodies to cyborgs, people who want to live long can live long, and people who want to die at age 80 will also be able to do so. After all, it is a cyborg body, it would be quick and painless to make it stop functioning than the biological human body.

So, what is so bad about we humans getting cyborg bodies, again?

Space Battleship Yamato sucked, except for the main theme

I happened to have a chance to hear the main theme of the Space Battleship Yamato (宇宙戦艦ヤマト). I liked the lyrics and melody of the part "必ずここへ帰って来ると手を振る人に笑顔で答え (Saying 'We shall return here no matter what' with a smile to the people who are waving their hands)". I kind of felt a sense of solemnity, sadness, sense of duty from that lyrics. I usually do not watch 'war' or 'battle' animations, because I do not like wars or battles, but this animation franchise had 4 series and several movies, according to Wikipedia. I thought it must have been good, otherwise how could there have been so many series, so I gave it a try and watched the first series.

In short, everything except the main theme sucked.

Technical nonsenses

Given that it was made in 1974 and it was not a space documentary, there still are some serious flaws. Why would anyone in 2199 use a battleship made in 1940's. They modified it, but it would have made far more sense if they built a new one from scratch. It would be as if building Windows 10 by modifying Windows 1.0 source code. To me, it seemed to be an excuse to link the mission with an old Japanese imperial ship that some old Japanese people have nostalgia for.

The crew members on Yamato which was near Pluto had real time video conversation with their family members on Earth. This is impossible. Pluto is 5 light hours away from the Earth. They cannot talk to each other in real time. Nothing can go faster than light, and so even the radio waves or any medium for communication can achieve real-time. More ridiculously, the ship somehow restored real-time communication with Earth when they were halfway to the Magellanic Cloud about 100,000 light years away from the Earth, and no one on the ship thought it strange.

How could the crews fix the outer damage of the ship in space, so quickly on the go? The damages were not even subtle. In one episode, almost the entire bottom half of the ship was damaged, but in the next episode it was fixed and good as new. Where do they get the parts and materials from? Space is vastly empty, it is not as if you can find an go to planets are here and there. Even if there happened to be some planets each time the ship got damages, materials would not be on the surface in lumps for you to extract. It is not StarCraft.

Annoying bible references

Analyser the robot said "It is said that humans got their life from God." No! We got it from evolution. Why a robot in the year 2199 would be still believing such nonsense? The last-surviving alien woman in Iscandar and a human male from the Earth fell in love. The protagonist solemnly announces, "they shall be the Adam and Eve for this planet." No, they are different species. They cannot reproduce. And even if they can, their descendants are still doomed. Whom will their children marry? Their siblings? Their parents? Even if they keep reproducing by marrying their siblings, the lack of genetic diversity would collapse the species. 

Stop being preachy

When they are the only ship that can save the entire humanity, and when they are already behind the schedule (if they do not meet the schedule, the entire humans will die), the protagonist decided to spend their time on rescuing some unknown alien animals. That is not realistic or even moral. That is like gambling on the lives of the entire human race. Yeah, I know the author wanted to tell 'all lives matter', but what kind of human in his right mind would actually do such a thing?

After accidentally destroying the entire planet of their enemy as a result of a battle, the protagonist was infuriated and shouted that those aliens were also living thing and they should have talked peace instead of war. Oh, please.

Sexism

Analyser the robot constantly harasses the only female crew, Yuki. It kept lifting up her skirt, exposing her white panties to the surrounding male crews. And most of the time, her response was screaming and running away in shame. Finally she reports this to the admiral, but the admiral murmurs that he prefers the way it is... And then suddenly the robot and girl were sent to a mission together. They met a dangerous situation, and the robot declares that it loves the girl and will protect her. And the girl kind of came to understand the robot's 'love'. This is probably what men would want women to think of their nasty sexual harrasments... 'love'.

When the ship was warping, all crew members faints, and their shapes were disintegrated into three colour components. But for the girl, Yuki, suddenly her clothing and her clothing alone disappeared and she became totally naked.  What kind of spatial warping effect only affects female clothings?

After two male crew members have had a fight over some stupid thing, they forget that they had a fight and cooperated to save the ship from an incoming enemy attack. Seeing this, the girl says something like "男同士っていいものね。(Males friendship is great)", as if two female friends would not cooperate in that kind of situation. Come to think of it, why is there only one female crew members in the first place.

The whole story was dull, predictable, or even insulting.

Why cannot a civilisation, which has the technology to navigate 200,000 light years alive, find a place to live near its own planet? There may not be 100% exactly hospitable planets around them, but they could terraform them. We humans, with our current modest technology are about to terraform Mars to live on it.

Why would a good alien send a message to the humans that tells humans to come to its planet (200,000 light years away from Earth) and get the radiation remover, and the technical instructions to build an engine for that? Wouldn't the alien just send the technical instructions for making that radiation remover, instead? Unless, the alien is evil (like Yahweh) and enjoying people suffering in the long and unpredictable journey.

I expected there could be some shocking revealer or twist when they arrive at Iscandar, since it was very predictable that the would succeed to get there. But nothing. They just got there, and carried the radiation remover, and then returned to Earth. 

When they arrived at Iscandar, the alien woman said there is another human from the Earth. I could immediately guessed that it would be the elder brother of the protagonist. But I thought, "Oh, come on! It's 200, 000 light years away." But it was his brother, all right. What kind of chance is that? And yeah, like a movie cliche, the alien woman was in love with that man.

As they were returning to the Earth, they had the final battle, and the girl, Yuki, died. I mean, died. There were also many other casualties. But the protagonist, who had fallen in love with her for some no obvious reasons, carries only her to the commanding bridge, to show her the Earth. I had a weird eerie feeling that she would be brought back to life, like, you know, fables where a kiss from the prince brings the princess back from death. And, like an insult, her hand just moved without any explanation, and she just 'woke up' from death. Why? How? 

The ending was just too simple and dull. It showed the ship reaching the Earth, and the narration said something like "They used the radiation remover to clean the Earth, and saved the humanity", and that was it. Just like that?

Note: Nangman or rangman (浪漫) is Japanese transliteration of the word 'roman'. The same Chinese letters (Kanji or Hanja) are read as [ro:man] in Japanese. In English, 'romance' or 'romantic' usually means something about love between lovers. In Korean and in Japanese, it means something beautiful, wonderful, dreamy, and fancy, not particularly restricted to love affairs. I looked up the Oxford English dictionary and the Korean/Japanese meaning is close to the second meaning: "A quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life: 'the romance of the sea'"
I could not think of a better translation for 'nangman', so I used 'romance' but keep in mind that the 'romance' in this song is not about love affairs but the second meaning of the Oxford dictionary.

구글 카드보드 사지 말 것. 가상 현실 (VR)은 아직 먼 것 같다.

서론

삼성이 Oculus와 제휴해서 갤럭시 S6/Note 5에 연결해 가상 현실을 체험할 수 있는 Gear VR 신모델을 최근 출시했고, 꽤 인기가 있는 것 같다. 게다가 몇 달 후면, 몇 년을 질질 끌던 Oculus Rift가 드디어 발매된다. 나는 갤럭시 S6/Note 5가 없기 때문에, 맛보기 용도로 구글 카드보드를 구매해 보았다.

일단 내가 가진 스마트 폰은 1920x1080 해상도에 펜타일 디스플레이를 가지고 있다. 카드보드는 싸게 산 것이기 때문에 품질이 좋을 것은 기대하지 않았다. 그래도 재미는 있을 것 같았다. 결론부터 말하자면 재미는 없고 한 30분도 안 되어 보고 싶은 마음이 사라졌다. 여기에는 물론 카드보드 + 펜타일 디스플레이라는 문제도 있겠지만, 지금의 가상 현실 기술 자체의 근본적 문제도 있고 소프트웨어 문제도 있다.

본론

1. 스마트 폰으로 보는 가상 현실 자체의 문제점

스마트 폰은 가상 현실을 위한 전용 기계가 아니다. 그러므로 시스템 인터페이스가 가상 현실을 위해 만들어져 있지 않다. 게다가 가상 현실 앱조차도 가상 현실 부분이 시작하기 전까지, 시작이나 설정 부분 등이 일반 스마트 폰 UI로 되어 있다. 이 게 무슨 소리이냐면, 홈 화면에서 가상 현실 앱을 시작하거나, 시스템 볼륨 조절, 시스템 오리엔테이션 설정, 가상 현실 앱 시작, 가상 현실 앱 설정, 심한 경우 가상 현실 앱 조작을 하기 위해서 카드보드에서 전화기를 꺼내어야 한다. 즉, 매번 조작할 때마다 전화기를 꺼내어 조작하고 다시 카드보드에 넣어야 한다는 문제가 있다. 이 건 도저히 불편해서 가상현실을 볼 마음이 안 들게 만든다.

2. 카드보드 등 도구의 문제점

이 문제는 고급 VR 도구에서는 없을지도 모르겠다. 하지만 고급 도구는 안 써 봐서 그냥 카드보드 기준으로 말하자면, 전화기 테두리와 카드보드 테두리 등이 다 보인다. 전혀 화면의 내용이 "현실"이라는 생각이 들지 않는다. 그냥 전망대에서 동전 넣고 보는 망원경 속 화면 정도의 느낌일 뿐이다.
그리고 지구는 먼지로 가득하다. 스마트 폰 화면, 카드보드 렌즈 등에 먼지가 있을 수밖에 없고 먼지를 닦아 낸다고 한들, 조작을 위해 스마트 폰을 꺼내 화면을 조작하면 다시 먼지가 붙는다. 이 먼지가 가상 현실 화면에서는 커다란 점이나 실 등으로 보여 시야를 방해한다.

3. 해상도와 성능의 한계

1080p의 펜타일 디스플레이는 평소에 픽셀이 보이지 않았다. 하지만 가상 현실 도구로 보면 픽셀이 보일 뿐 아니라, 보기 싫은 펜타일 매트릭스까지 화면 전반에 선명하게 보인다. 예전 신문에서 사진을 자세히 보면 대각선 점들이 가득한 것처럼 보였는데, 마치 그런 느낌이다. 화질이 안 좋아서 가상 현실이라는 느낌이 들지 않는다. 몇 달 뒤에 나올 Oculus도 양쪽 눈의 해상도를 합치면 1080p 정도라고 알고 있다. 과연 픽셀이 보이지 않을까? 보일 것 같다.

그리고 게임이나 입체 렌더링 등에서 딜레이가 느껴진다. 이 점은 S6나 Oculus 등의 더 좋은 CPU를 가진 제품에서는 개선되었을 수도 있다.

4. 소프트웨어의 한계

앱 스토어에서 도시를 가상 현실로 보여 준다는 앱을 받아 보았다. 어떻게 보이느냐면, 내가 360도 돔(dome) 안에 들어가 있고, 그 돔의 벽면이 도시의 사진으로 칠해져 있는 느낌이었다. 전혀 내가 그 도시에 있다는 착각이 들지 않았다. 그냥 내 주변이 사진으로 덮여 있다는 느낌이었다.  구글 스트리트 뷰의 가상현실도 그런 비슷한 느낌이었다.
구글 카드보드 앱의 가상 현실 비디오에 들어가면 결국 유튜브에서 360도 비디오를 찾아 보여 주는데, 이 인터페이스가 가상 현실이 아니기 때문에 결국 비디오가 시작될 때까지 카드보드에서 전화기를 꺼내어 조작해야 한다. 보고 싶은 마음이 들지 않았다.

5. 가상 현실 기술 자체의 한계

적어도 내가 알기로 Oculus든 Gear VR이든 결국 그냥 양 눈에 서로 다른 이미지 두 개를 보여 주는 것이다. 문제는 이 게 근본적으로 현실과 다르다는 것이다. 현실에서는 사람이 눈동자를 움직이거나 초점을 조절해 보는 곳을 조절할 수 있다. 그런데 카드보드에서 보니 이 입체점이 고정되어 있기 때문에 그런 것을 할 수가 없다. 즉, 내가 보고 싶은 것을 보는 게 아니고, 내게 보이는 것을 수동적으로 보는 것이라는 것이다. 그러니 실제의 사물을 보는 느낌이 드는 게 아니고, 기껏해야 극장에서 보던 3D 영화 화면을 보는 것 비슷한 느낌일 뿐이었다.

정말 현실처럼 보이려면 가상 현실 기기가 사람의 눈동자를 추적하고, 초점을 추적(이 건 가능한지 모르겠다, 사람 눈 속에서 일어나는 일이라)해서 거기에 맞는 이미지를 보여 주어야 할 것인데, 아마 이 건 당분간 불가능할 것 같다.

결론

정말 현실이라는 착각을 느낄 수 있을 정도의 가상 현실을 바란다면 카드보드는 물론이고 곧 나올 Oculus도 그 기대를 만족시켜 줄 수는 없을 것 같다. 특히 카드보드는 거의 정상적 사용이 불가능한 제품으로, 그냥 재미로 한 번 보려면 모를까, 가상 현실 앱을 계속 사용하겠다고 사는 짓은 무모하다고 생각된다.

영화나 애니메이션에 나오 듯이, 우리 인간이 현실과 구분할 수 없을 정도의 가상 현실을 체험하는 것은 내가 죽기 전에 가능할까?

반딧불이의 무덤(火垂るの墓)을 보았다. 어떻게 이 게 일본 미화로 보일 여지가 있는가?

반딧불이의 무덤(반딧불의 묘라고도 번역하는 듯) 1988년 지브리에서 만든 애니메이션 영화이다. 오래된 영화이다보니 예전부터 제목은 들었지만, 별로 제목이 재미없다보니 영화도 재미없을 것같아서 안 보고 있었다. 그러다가 모 사이트에서 가장 슬픈 애니메이션 순위를 봤는데 이 작품이 1위여서, 봐 보았다.

줄거리는 간단히 말하자면, 일본과 미국의 전쟁이 거의 끝나갈 때 쯤인 1945년 경의 일본의 한 마을에서, 아버지가 전쟁터에 나가고 어머니와 어린 여동생과 같이 살던 소년이, 폭격으로 어머니가 죽자, 여동생과 무슨 버려진 탄광같은 곳에서 둘이서 살다가, 여동생이 영양실조 등으로 인한 병으로 죽는다는 것이다.

배경이 배경이니만큼, 분명히 한국 사람이면 "군국주의 미화" 뭐 이런 걸 예상하지 않을까 싶은 생각이, 영화를 보기 시작할 때 쯤부터 들었다. 군국주의 미화가 나올 거라고 예상한 게 아니고, 그렇게 오해를 받을 게 나오지 않을까 하는 생각이 들었을 뿐이다. 영화를 다 보고 나서 국내 리뷰를 찾아 몇 개 대강 읽어 보았다. 리뷰어 자체가 그런 생각을 가진 경우는 안 보였는데, 리뷰의 내용에 한국 사람들이 그런 인상을 받는 경우가 있다는 식의 내용이 있었다.

문제가 되는 부분이, 폭격 직후 사람이 죽고 집이 불타고 있는 과정에서 한 40~50대 쯤 되어 보이는 공무원이나 경찰같은 (제복을 입고 있으니) 남자가 "천황 폐하 만세"를 외치는 장면, 폭격으로 민간인들이 죽고 마을이 폐허가 되는 장면이 많이 나와 미군이 나쁜 놈이라는 인식을 심어 준다는 것, 그리고 전쟁이 끝나고 아버지가 타고 간 해군함이 졌다는 소식을 듣고 주인공 소년이 "대일본 제국이 졌느냐"고 묻고 우는 장면 등이다.

솔직히 말해, 저런 걸 보고 군국주의 미화나 일본 제일주의 등이라고 생각하는 사람이 있다면 정말 나는 그 사람이야말로 반일 교육과 한국의 국수주의에 세뇌되어 제 정신이 아니라고 생각한다. 나는 "천황 폐하 만세"를 외치는 남자를 보고 "아 천황이 정말 대단하신 분이구나!" 이런 생각이 들지 않았다. 내가 본 것은, 천황 미화와 일본의 국수주의에 세뇌되어 저 상황에서도 천황 만세를 외치는 불쌍한 인간의 모습이었다.

군사 시설 타격의 도중에 부수 피해로 민간인이 죽는 것은 요즘도 일어나지만, 저렇게 대놓고 민간인 마을을 공습하는 게 당시로는 전쟁 범죄가 아니었는지 어떤지는 모르겠다. 히로시마/나가사키 원자 폭탄 공격을 위키피디아에서 검색해 보니, 13만 명이 죽었고, 대부분 민간인이었다고 한다. 아마 군사 시설에 원자 폭탄을 떨어뜨린 게 아니고, 그냥 사람이 사는 도시에 떨어뜨렸나 보다. 전쟁의 명분으로는 분명히 일본이 잘못되었고, 미국이 옳은 편이었다. 그리고 일본군도 적국의 민간인들을 많이 죽였을 테니, "미군은 나쁜 놈, 일본군은 우리 편" 이런 생각을 한 게 아니다. 내가 느낀 것은, 위의 정치가들이 정한 싸움으로 밑의 국민들은 자의가 아니게 전쟁에 참여하게 되는 것이라는 것과, 사람들이 폭격에 맞아 죽는 것을 보며 어느 편이 되었든 전쟁을 하면 군인은 나쁜 놈이 된다는 것이었다. 폭격으로 죽은 민간인이 수 십 만 명은 될 텐데, 그들 중 폭격에 맞아 죽어도 쌀 만큼 나쁜 사람의 비율은 얼마나 될까. 저 때 죽은 사람들 중 대부분은 일본 천황이 세계를 정복하는 것과 그냥 자기 가족들이 평안하게 사는 것 중 두 개를 고르라고 한다면 후자를 고르지 않았을까? 폭격을 하는 미군들도 자기가 죽이는 사람들의 비참한 모습은 모르고, 정치가들로부터 "미국의 자유와 평화를 위해서" 이런 의식에 세뇌되어 목숨 걸고 전쟁에 참가하고 있었을 불쌍한 사람들이다.

그리고 마지막으로, 대일본 제국이 졌느냐고 묻는 장면... 이 건 누가 봐도, 정말 천황을 위시한 대일본제국이 좋아서 제국이 졌느냐고 묻는 게 아니고, 자기 아버지가 참가한 군이 졌느냐, 즉 자기 아버지가 졌느냐, 즉, 자기 아버지가 죽었느냐 하는 질문이다. 영화의 내래이션이 한 말이 아니다. 영화에 나오는 1945년의 소년이 한 말이다. 1945년의 일본 소년이, 그럼 미국 편일까? 미국이 옳고 일본이 나쁜 전쟁을 일으켰다는 걸 알았을까? 당연히 모를 것이다. 그 소년이 아는 세상은 일본이 다였을 테니, 일본이 미국에 이기기를 바라는 건 당연한 것이다. 아무리 봐도 감독이 "대일본 제국이 이겨야 한다"라는 메시지를 전달한다고 볼 수가 없다. 그렇게 보인다면 그 사람의 정신이 이상한 것으로 밖에 생각이 안 된다.

우리 나라 사람들은 일본의 국수주의를 지나치게 두려워하는 것같다. 그러면서 정작 우리 나라 자체의 국수주의는 깨닫지 못한다. 남이 하면 국수주의이고, 우리가 하면 애국이고 뭐 그런 거다. 우리 나라 사람들이 아무렇지도 않게 하는 생각이나 행동들이 좀 객관적으로 보면 일본 이상으로 더 국수주의처럼 보이는 경우가 많다. 예전에 유시민 의원인가, 국민 의례에 쓰이는 문구가 파시스트적이라고 했다가 전국민한테서 욕을 얻어 먹고 취소를 했던 것으로 기억한다. 나는 유시민 의원의 생각에 동감한다. "나는 자랑스러운 조국의 무궁한 영광을 위하여 몸과 마음을 바쳐 충성을 다할 것을..." 아니 어떻게 이런 부끄러운 문구가 있을 수가 있는지? 이건 대어놓고, 국가를 위해 개인을 희생하라는 내용이다. 저 문구에서 "조국"을 "대일본"으로 바꾸고 일본에서 초등학생들에게 "나는 자랑스러운 대일본의 무궁한 영광을 위하여 몸과 마음을 바쳐 충성을..." 이런 문구를 아침마다 말하게 한다는 사실이 한국에 알려졌다고 생각해 보자. 분명 KBS 뉴스에 "일본 제국주의 부활", "군국주의 세뇌 교육" 뭐 이런 내용으로 크게 보도될 거다. 하지만, 일본이 아니라 우리가 하니까 애국이다.

도대체 조국이라는 게 뭔가? 왜 자꾸 국가를 위해 개인을 희생하는 게 당연한 것인 듯 아이들에게 가르치는가? 국가라는 게 인간의 위해 필수의 존재인가? 아니다. 인간이 존재하기 위해서는 인간이 존재하면 그만이다. 국가는 우리가 필요에 따라 무슨 무슨 동호회에 가입하듯, 우리의 필요에 의해 가입한 모임일 뿐이다. 추상적인 존재이다. 구체적으로는 국가라고 하면 정부와 그 조직을 말하는 경우가 많다. 결국 정부와 그 조직을 지키기 위해 개인이 희생하는 것은 좋은 것이라고 가르치는 것인데, 사실 그런가? 나는 내 가족이 죽는 것보다 대한민국 정부가 무너지고 다른 정부가 되는 걸 고르겠다. 나와 내 가족이 죽는다면 그까짓 정부가 누가 되든 무슨 상관이며, 큰 변화가 있는 것도 아니다. 지도자가 바뀐다고 해서 살고 있는 사람들이 달라지는 것도 아니고, 국가라는 것 자체가 없어진다고 한들, 내가 죽는 것보다는 낫다.

나는 반딧불이의 무덤을 보면서, 개인 위에 군림하는 국가라는 이데올로기로 인해 파괴되고 불쌍하게 죽어간 가족을 보았을 뿐이다. 차라리 국가가 없었더라면, 그냥 아버지, 어머니, 여동생과 아무도 없는 산 속에서 살았더라면 저 소년은 더 행복하지 않았을까?

슬견설을 다시 생각하게 하는 도덕 상대 주의

고등학교 때인가 중학교 때인가 교과서에서 "슬견설"이라는 것을 읽었다. 다들 알겠지만 내용은, 두 사람이 앉아서 얘기를 하는데, 한 사람이 며칠 전에 마을 사람들이 개를 때려 죽여 먹는 걸 보고 불쌍해서 다시는 개고기를 안 먹겠다고 결심했다고 하자, 다른 사람이, 자기는 며칠 전에 어떤 사람이 옷에서 이를 잡아 태워 죽이는 걸 보고 불쌍해서 다시는 이를 안 잡겠다고  생각했다고 대꾸하는 것이다. 지은 이가 말하고자 한 것은, 개나 기생충이나 같은 생명이니까 인간 중심으로 생각하지 않고 객관적으로 보면 같은 생명이 아니냐 뭐 즉, 인간의 편견을 가지지 말고 객관적으로 보라 뭐 이런 거였다. 선생님도 그렇게 설명했던 것 같고 아마 시험에 나왔을 때 답도 그 거였을 거다. 하지만 지금 생각해 보니 할 말이 많다.

얼마 전에 구글에서 개 사진을 검색하다가 끔찍한 걸 보았다. 개 귀에 무슨 자잘한 것들이 잔뜩 박혀 있는 것이었는데, 합성 공포 사진인가 싶어서 눌러 봤더니 그 게 아니고 개 귀에 진드기 (tick)가 잔뜩 박혀 있는 것이었다. 개 벼룩은 말로 들어 봤는데, 개 진드기는 잘 모르고 있어서 검색을 해 봤더니 아주 광범위하고 흔한 기생충인 것 같다. 주로 개 귀 쪽에 들러붙어 피를 빨고 개가 죽을 때까지 안 떨어진다고 한다. 그리고 우연인지 사실 얼마 전에 distemper라고 하는 개 바이러스 비디오도 봤었다. 그 때, 익히 알고 있던 광견병 (rabies)도 검색해 보니, 개나 인간의 뇌에 잠입해 거의 100% 숙주를 죽이는 생각보다  무서운 바이러스였다.

개를 괴롭히는 이, 진드기, 벼룩, 디스템퍼 바이러스, 광견병 바이러스... 모두 생명이다. 물론 바이러스는 생명이 아닌 걸로 볼 수도 있지만, 그런 바이러스들도 우리 인간이나 개와 같은 RNA 구조를 가지고 있는 걸로 봐서 우리와 공동 조상을 가진 것은 분명하며, 생명이냐 아니냐 하는 것은 인간이 어떻게 정의하느냐에 따른 것일 뿐이다.

그러면 저 것들도 다 생명이니 개와 같은 취급을 해 줘야 하느냐 하는 것이 문제이다. 슬견설의 주장에 따르면 개는 큰 동물이까 좋아하고 이는 해충이니까 싫어하는 것은 인간의 편견이라는 것인데, 나는 여기에 반대한다. 절대적인 도덕의 기준은 없으며, 도덕의 기준은 상대적이고, 우리는 인간이기 때문에, 인간의 도덕 기준으로밖에 생각할 수 없으며, 그 기준으로 생각하는 게 당연하다는 게 나의 주장이다.

도덕이라는 것은 인간의 사고 속에서만 존재하는 개념이다. 우리가 알기로 인간 외에 도덕이라는 개념을 가진 존재는 없다. 나는 신이 없다고 생각하지만, 신이 정말 있다고 한들, 신의 도덕은 그 신의 주관적 도덕일 뿐이다. 절대적이라는 것은 성립할 수 없다. 신의 도덕이 절대 도덕이라고 하는 것 자체가 그 주장을 하는 사람의 주관적인 의견인 것이며, 그 것을 수학적 증명처럼 확실하게 증명할 수 있는 방법을 없다.

뭔가 절대적이고 객관적인 도덕이 존재하는 것처럼 보이는 것은, 우리 대부분의 인류의 주관적 생각에 공통점이 있기 때문에 그 주관적 생각의 공통점이 객관적인 것으로 보이는 착시현상일 뿐이다. 예를 들어, "죄 없는 사람을 죽이면 안 된다"라는 것은 마치 아무도 부정할 수 없는 "절대적이고 객관적인 도덕"인 것처럼 보인다. 하지만 이 것은 인류 진화의 과정에서 주변 사람을 마구잡이로 죽일 경우 집단이 성립할 수 없기에 그렇게 하지 않는 개념이 우리 뇌에 있고, 사이코패스가 아닌 이상 대부분의 사람이 그렇게 주관적 생각을 하고 있기 때문에, 그렇게 생각하지 않는 사람이 미래에 대다수가 될 가능성이 거의 없어서 절대적인 것으로 보일 뿐이다. 만일 인류 이외의 지적 생명체가 우주에서 발견되었는데, 그들의 도덕은 인간을 보이는 대로 잡아 죽이는 것이라고 한다면, 무슨 기준으로 "죄 없는 사람을 죽이면 안 된다"가 절대적인 도덕이라고 그 우주 생명체에게 증명할 수 있을 것인가? 객관적이고 절대적이라고 주장할 수 있는 도덕은 아무 것도 없다. 모두 상대적인 것이다.

절대 다수 사람에게, 꽃은 예쁘게 보이고, 썩은 생선은 끔찍하게 보일 것이다. 하지만 어떤 동물에게는 꽃은 아무런 의미가 없고 썩은 생선은 번식을 위한 중요한 도구이기 때문에 썩은 생선이 더 매력적으로 보일 수도 있을 것이다. 뭐 어차피 꽃이나 썩은 생선이나 모두 우리 인류가 지구에 나타나기 전부터 있던 존재이고, 예쁘다/끔찍하다는 인간의 뇌가 만들어 낸 것일 뿐 객관적인 사실은 아니다. 그렇다고 그 개념이 객관적인 사실이 아니고 다른 동물에게는 썩은 생선이 더 매력적으로 보일 수 있으니, 우리 인류도 객관적이 되어서 꽃과 썩은 생선을 같이 아름답게 보려고 노력해야 할까? 왜 그래야 할까?

이동 속도는 상대적이다. 이동 속도를 측정하려면 이동하는 물체에 대항해 기준이 되는 물체가 있어야하기 때문이다. 그런데 그 기준 물체에 절대적인 게 있을 수가 없다. 사람이 시속 10 킬로미터로 달린다고 하면, 이 때 기준은 지구의 땅이다. 하지만 반드시 땅을 기준으로 생각할 필요가 있을까? 땅이 사람의 속도를 측정하는 절대적인 기준이 되어야 한다고 어떻게 증명할 수 있을까? 땅을 기준으로 삼는 건 그냥 우리 모두가 동의하는 주관적 편의사항이 아닌가? 지구는 일 년에 한 번 씩 태양 주위를 돈다. 초당 30 킬로미터라는 엄청난 속도이다. 시속 10킬로미터로 달리는 사람은, 태양을 기준으로 본다면 시속 수 십 만 킬로미터로 달리고 있는 게 된다. 그리고 우리 은하계를 기준으로 본다면 시속 수 십 억 킬로미터 쯤의 속도로 달리고 있는 게 되지 않을까? 이렇게 속도라는 것에 절대적 기준이 없을 때, 우리에게 계산하기 편리하고 직관적인 땅(지구 표면)을 두고 굳이 다른 기준으로 생각해야 할 이유가 있을까?

우리 대부분의 인간의 생각으로 봤을 때, 개는 우리에게 도움을 주는 이로운 동물이고, 이나 벼룩 등은 우리의 피를 빨고, 병을 옮기고, 우리를 죽이는 해로운 동물이다. 개나 이가 모두 같은 동물인 건 맞다. 하지만 생명의 가치가 높다/낮다라는 것 자체가 도덕이고 이런 도덕은 절대적인 게 있을 수가 없다. 모든 지적 사고 능력을 가진 존재가 서로 다른 도덕 기준을 가질 수밖에 없다. 그렇다면, 우리 인간은 우리 인간의 도덕 기준을 적용할 수밖에 없지 않은가? 우리가 우리에게 도움을 주는 존재의 가치를 우리에게 해를 주는 존재의 가치보다 더 높게 생각하는 것은 당연한 것이 아닌가? "개가 이보다 절대적으로 가치가 높다"고 선언한다면 이 것은 잘못된 것이다. 하지만 우리가 인간인 이상 "인간에게 있어 개가 이보다 가치가 높다"라고 생각하는 것은 당연한 것이다. 우리는 인간이기 때문에, 인간의 기준으로밖에 보고 느끼고 생각할 수밖에 없기 때문이다. 여기에서 "인간에게 있어"라는 부분을 매번 말할 필요가 없다. 그냥 속도라고 말하면 땅 기준이 것이 암묵적으로 이해되어 있듯이, "개의 가치가 이보다 높다"라고만 해도 이 건 인간의 기준으로 그렇다라는 것이 암묵적으로 이해되어 있기 때문이다.

사회 초년생, 집 보러 부동산 다닐 때 주의할 점

대학 입학이나 취직을 해서 원룸이나 빌라 등을 알아 보러 부동산에 갈 때 정말 조심해야 한다. 이 글의 요지를 종이에 적어서 부동산에 들어가기 전에 확실하게 마음에 새기고 들어가라, 안 그러면 어느 샌가 홀려서 실수를 하게 된다.

1. 부동산의 바람잡는 말을 모두 무시하라.

그냥 부동산이 하는 말은 다 무시하고 자기 생각만 가지고 봐라, 부동산이 마치 잘 안다는 듯이 이 집은 이 게 참 좋고, 저 게 참 좋고 이런 식으로 자랑을 하고, 특히 부동산 두 명이 팀을 이뤄 바람을 잡는 경우가 많다. 그런데 실상은 대부분 그 부동산도 그 집에 오늘 처음 와 본 사람들이다. 요즘은 부동산들이 자기네들이 보는 인터넷 사이트 보고 찾아가지, 미리 집을 잘 알고 있지 않는 경우가 많다.

부동산이 이 집은 참 조용하고, 여기 사는 사람들도 다 조용한 사람들이다, 라고 하는 것 믿지 말라. 부동산 자기가 거기 살아 봤나? 그냥 하는 말이다.

2. 부동산이 말 걸 때 꼭 필요한 말 외에는 대답하지 말거나 적당히 넘겨라.

사람이란 게 이 것 저 것 말하다 보면 하지 않아야 할 말도 하게 된다. 그러다 보면 부동산에게 부동산에게 이용당할 점을 말하게 된다. 부동산들은 언변의 대가이다. 당신의 기분을 맞춰 주기 위해서 온갖 사탕발린 말을 다 하게 되고, 당신이 여기에 넘어가 부동산과 괜히  나한테 친하게 되었다고 생각하게 되면, 조건이 안 좋은 데도 그 부동산을 그냥 나오기 힘들어지고, 다른 부동산으로 가기 힘들어진다. 꼭 필요한 말만 하라.

3. 계약금을 걸 수 있는 돈을 가지고 가지 말라. (현금 카드 등)

언뜻 보면 되게 좋아 보여 막 계약을 하고 싶어지는 경우가 있다. 참아라. 어차피 내일 간다고 안 없어진다. 당장 그 자리에서 부동산의 온갖 감언이설을 듣다 보면 판단력이 흐려진다. 돈이 아예 손에 없으면 돈을 가지러 집에 가서 내일 와야 하고, 그러면 그 동안 판단력이 되돌아 오며, 아까 안 보였던 단점과 문제점들이 보이게 되어, 실수를 방지할 수 있다.

4. 화장실의 창문은 필수이다.

부동산들이 괜찮다고 하는데, 살아 봐라, 그 냄새와 곰팡이를 감당하지 못할 것이다. 환풍기 있어도 소용 없다. 환풍기는 공기 발생기가 아니다. 공기를 내 보내기만 하는 거지. 그런데 창문이 없는데 공기가 어디에서 들어온단 말인가?

5. 불 끄고 봐라.

부동산이 들어가면서 방과 주방의 불을 모두 켜는 경우가 있다. 불을 끄고 얼마나 햇빛이 들어 오는지 봐라.

6. 부동산이 주인에 대해 하는 말은 믿지 마라.

부동산이 이 집 주인은 참 좋은 사람이다 이런 식으로 자주 말하는데, 어차피 자기네들도 잘 모르는 사람이다. 그냥 하는 말이다. 그리고 부동산은 주인 편이다. 당신이 그 부동산을 다시 이용할 일이 있을까? 많아야 한 번 더? 하지만 원룸이나 빌라 주인은 그 부동산과 1년에만 수 십 번을 계약할 수도 있다. 부동산이 누구 편이겠는가?

7. 주인이 부동산으로 오기 전에 미리 계약 사항을 전화로 확인해라.

예를 들면 1년 계약을 하고 싶다고 치자. 부동산이 "아마" 주인도 해 줄 것이다 이런 식으로 말하는 것 믿지 마라. 부동산은 어떻게든 돈을 벌기 위해 있는 소리 없는 소리 다 하는 것이다. 막상 주인이 올 때 쯤 되면 부동산은 계약서를 거의 다 작성해 버린다. 내가 중간에 계약 안 하고 그냥 나가는 걸 힘들게 하기 위해서이다. 주인이 와서 1년 계약 안 해 준다 이러면 계약서가 거의 다 써 지고, 주인까지 왔는데 안 한다 그러기도 미안해서 그냥 하게 된다. 부동산이 "아마 이렇지 않을까?" 이런 식으로 말하는 것 다 무시하고, 직접 주인하고 전화를 해서 이렇게 계약할 건지 물어 봐라.

8. 부동산이 걱정말라, 사고 나면 내가 책임진다, 요즘 그런 사람 없다, 이런 말 모두 믿지 마라.

집 융자가 많다. 부동산이 걱정말라 사고 잘 안 난다, 이런 식으로 말할 거다. 그런데 법적으로 부동산의 책임이 없는 한 말로 하는 건 아무 의미가 없고 그냥 당신한테서 어떻게든 중개료를 받기 위해 하는 것일 뿐이다. 부동산 말에 쉽게 넘어 가지 말고 "정말 그럴까"를 잘 생각해 봐라.

그 주인이 부도낼 사람이 아니다, 내가 책임진다 이런 건 법적으로 효력이 있는 내용이 아니다. 내 돈을 보호하고 싶다면 법적으로 효력이 있는 내용만 믿어라. 정 부동산이 하는 말이 믿긴다면, 부동산한테 지금 한 말을 법적 효력이 있게 문서화 해 달라고 해 봐라. 절대 안 해 줄 것이다.

9. 보증금이 많을 때, 순위에 주의하자.

내가 계약을 세 번 째로 했다고, 보증금 3순위가 되는 게 아니다. 내가 계약을 세 번 째에 했더라도, 나보다 며칠 빨리 이사가는 사람이 둘 더 있어서 그 사람이 먼저 동사무소에 가서 신고하면 그 사람들한테 순위가 밀린다. 주의하자. 아주 중요하다.

10. 계약서를 작성하러 주인이 오는 걸 기다리는 동안 이렇게 하라.

부동산이 나의 신원을 적어 달라고 하거나 신분증 등은 복사하게 달라고 하면, 주인이 와서 얘기를 해 보고 계약서 적을 때 준다고 절대 주지 말라. 이런 걸 다 주고 나면 계약할 때 주인이 이상한 소리를 해도 계약을 안 하기 어려워진다.

그리고 다음 문구를 마음 속으로 계속 되뇌어라.

"조건에 안 맞으면 계약 안 하고 나간다."

"조건에 안 맞으면 계약 안 하고 나간다."

"조건에 안 맞으면 계약 안 하고 나간다."

11. 전화 번호를 따로 하나 준비하라.
부동산을 다니다 보면 별로 좋은 집을 소개해 주지 않아 그냥 나가려고 할 때 전화 번호를 알려 달라고 하는 일이 많다. 가능하다면 알려 주지 마라. 부동산에 휴대 전화를 알려 주고 난 후로 그 지역 아파트 분양이 어쩌고 하는 문자 메시지 스팸이 몇 번 씩 온다. 부동산 다니기 전에는 한 번도 이런 스팸을 받아 본 일이 없으므로, 분명히 내가 전화 번호를 남긴 부동산 중에서 누가 내 전화 번호를 스팸 업자에게 팔아 먹은 것이다. 그 게 아니라도, 1~2년 지나 계약이 끝날 때가 되면 부동산에서 그 기간을 세고 있었는지, 집 구하지 않느냐는 전화가 온다. 아주 귀찮다.

집 보러 다니는 도중에 전화 번호를 물어서 안 가르쳐 주는 게 힘들다면, 세컨더리 휴대 전화를 하나 마련하라. 중고 스마트폰 하나 사 두면 비상시에도 요긴하게 쓸 수 있으므로 좋다. MVNO를 사용하면 월 기본요금 1000원 정도 되는 데도 있다. 요즘 부동산도 약아서 전화 번호를 알려 주면 가짜인가 확인하려고 그 자리에서 바로 걸어 보는 사람이 많다. 이럴 때를 대비해 세컨더리 휴대 전화를 주머니에 소지하고 부동산에 가라.

12. 현장에서 피처 리스트를 작성하라.
화장실의 창문 존재 여부, 싱크대 근처 창문 존재 여부, 보일러 컨트롤러나 에어컨이 방 안에 있나 방 밖에 있나, 등 여러 여부를 그냥 눈으로 보고 다니면, 나중에 부동산이 하나를 고르라고 압박할 때 실수로 어떤 점을 놓치고 고를 수 있다. 미리 그런 것들을 다 체크해 두고 나중에 그 중에 제일 나은 집을 비교해 골라라.

Just finished watching "April is your lie (４月は君の嘘)"

Contains a major spoiler. Do not read this, if you are going to watch the animation.

I was bored so I decided to watch some famous Japanese animation. On a Japanese ranking site, I had found that this animation, “April is your lie” was ranked at top. 

The animation began as a blond young girl (Kawori) in a school uniform was chasing a black cat on a street. After watching the first episode, I did not like the unusual look of characters (quite unique from other Japanese animations), and the first episode was not so interesting, and I expected it would be a kind of predictable “boys and girls become great piano players” story, like in a sports movie ends with the protagonist winning a big game after lots of hard practices. I was tempted to stop watching the series. I watched several more episodes, and it was still boring.

As Kousei developed feelings for Kawori, the story became a little bit interesting. And at somewhere between episode 7~10, Kawori was shown to taking lots of pills. It was easy to expect that she would either die or become unable to play violin. I wondered how it would end, so I kept watching the series through the end.

When I began watching this animation, I wondered what the title "April is your lie" meant. As I  was watching episodes after episodes, I forgot about the title. Then in the final episode, the meaning of the title was revealed. Kawori had been in love with Kousei long before they officially met each other. But she pretended to like Watari, because she knew that she would going to die soon and did not want to hurt Kousei by impressing her onto him.

Before I watched the final episode, I did not have any clue that Kawori liked Kousei. So I could not understand why Kawori and Watari were a couple. They had nothing in common, and they barely met each other right before Kawori met Kousei with Watari together. Kawori and Kousei seemed to have much in common such as the passion for music, so it made no sense to me that Kawori was a couple with Watari, not Kousei. Only at the final episode, this problem was soled. So, that was her Lie on April. 

Kawori left a mail to Kousei right before she took the surgery, to tell him that it was Kousei who she loved. The surgery went bad and she died. To be honest, in a few episodes before the final episode when it was known that Kawori was taking the surgery, I thought ‘Please do not be a childish happy ending like she will be magically completely cured and becomes able to play violin.’ But her death was so sudden in the final episode (it just went to straight to the graveyard scene), even though it was I myself who wanted a sadder ending, I became sad. And I became sadder when I knew Kawori had been  in love with Kousei all along. Kousei discovered Kawori’s feelings after reading her mail, but she did never know that Kousei also loved her. This is sad, because she does not exists any more, and she can never know about that.

People change as the live. What defines the identity of a person? His body changes so it is not that. Then his thoughts are. But his thoughts are also changes as time changes. That is, the feeling of myself is a delusion. For example, the I as a child was a different being and it does not exist anymore even though I am still alive. Kousei’s heart would also change as he grows old. Perhaps he would meet a new girl and his memory of Kawori would become paler and paler and finally someday, even though Kousei remembers that he had feelings for Kawori, he may not be able to feel it as a feeling anymore. Having the knowledge of “I loved her” and feeling “I loved her” is a different thing. When I was a kid, I loved to have large transforming robot toys. I remember I did, but I cannot feel it. I no longer feel the love for those toys.

So the Kousei Kawori knew would probably not exist any more after 10 or 20 years. But in her letter, her feelings are taken as a snapshot, and it would never change. If the letter will be read 20 years later, her feelings will still be there unchanged, and thus her identity will remain. If our thoughts define our identity, 15-year-old Kawori will keep remain in the letter, unlike alive Kousei whose thoughts shall change.

I do not believe in love, and I have already read or watched many death-involving love stories; but still, such a love story moves my heart. Probably because I am like many other humans who cannot be freed from human emotions.

I am going to watch “April is your lie” from the beginning again, just to find out Kawori’s feelings.

=========Appended one day later==========
Watching the parts of the animation where Kawori and Kousei interact gave me new feelings and thoughts, because now I know that Kawori was expecting her death, and in love with Kousei. The elaborate directing of the animation kind of deceived me to think that Kawori was afraid of losing the ability of playing violin not of the fact that there is a high chance she is going to die.

Now I know why Kawori cried as she was returning home with Kousei in the night when she had escaped the hospital to visit an empty school. I thought it was because she was worried about losing the ability to play violin, it was not. It was because the moment was going to be the most wonderful and beautiful , and probably the last, memory she would ever have.

A love that cannot last despite their feelings is always a beautiful thing; a sadly beautiful thing. If Kawori could have lived long, as a normal person, the love would have turned out a trifle thing. I mean, how many loves in middle school last 10 or 20 years? People's mind changes. It would not be an unbelievable thing, if they break up when they became 25 and found better people. But since Kawori dies at the age of 15, the love stays unchanged forever. Like frozen strawberries in a refrigerator, it does not go bad. But it is sad because it was frozen. It is dead like the frozen strawberries. That is a dilemma. If it is alive it will surely change and go bad. If it is frozen, it keeps its shape forever, but it is dead.

I am not sure what Kawori's disease is. But it is said because her death probably surely preventable when the human race finally gets full genetic and medical knowledge of the human body. A few thousands years later, we may be able to simply replace any organs in human body like we replace the battery of a wall clock. Kawori's sorrow is not a unbreakable, unavoidable, necessary destination. This has already happened before in the human history. People have suffered and died because of a disease that we can now fix in a day.

I hate deaths. I do not want people to die. Some people insists death is just a part of life. I do not  agree with them. There is no god who has made rules for the human race. We are not destined to, or must die. We have been dying just because we still have no ability to fight against some simple chemical rules which have no emotions or meanings. Humans will change the destination of their own destination in the future. And there shall be no death, eventually, until the end of the universe. 

파리의 연인 드라마를 다시 보니 왜 이렇게 실망스러울까

군대에 있을 때 파리의 연인을 보았었다. 원래 밤 10시에 TV를 보는 것 자체가 사실 몰래하는 것이고, 야간 근무가 있는 날도 있었기 때문에 제대로 다 보지는 못했다. 한 가지 기억나는 건, 마지막회 하는 날에 야간 근무가 있어서 마지막 회를 못 봤다는 것이다. 어쨌든 당시에 부대원들과 재미있게 봤던 기억이 있고, 당시의 화제작이었기 때문에, 최근에 파리의 연인을 다시 보았다.

옛날 걸 다시 보면 느끼는 것이지만, 10년만 지나도 본 것을 많이 잊어 버리는 것 같다. 파리의 연인에서 10년 전에도 봤던 걸로 기억나는 부분은 "애기야, 가자"하고 박신양이 피아노 치면서 노래 부르는 부분 두 개이고, 나머지는 완전히 새로 보는 것같이 아무 기억이 나지 않았다.

그런데, 한국 드라마를 거의 10년 간 안 보다가 봐서 그런지 모르겠지만, 솔직히 아주 많이 실망스러웠다.

1. 너무 많은 우연

길거리에서 자동차로 노점상을 받았는데, 마침 그 노점상 주인이 자신의 집 가정부일 확률은? 게다가 세느 강변에서 밤에 우연히 자전거를 고쳐 준 여자를 파리의 옷 가게에서 다시 만날 확률은? 그 여자가 또 자기가 연주하는 바에 친구 따라 올 확률은... 물론 드라마라지만 한 두 번도 아니고 현실적으로 희박한 확률의 우연이 너무 자주 일어난다.

후반부에 가면, 꼭 중요한 대화를 하는데, 다른 중요한 인물이 거기 근처를 우연히 지나가다 듣는다든가, 우연히 회사에서 마주친다든가 하는 일이 너무나 많이 일어난다. 특히 오주은은 무슨 omnipresent한 신도 아니고, 김정은이 나오면 항상 어디선가 나타나 시비를 건다.

2. 별 동감이 안 되는 사랑의 깊이

박신양과 이동건 모두 김정은을 너무너무 사랑하게 된다.  둘 다 모든 것을 버리더라도 김정은을 택하겠다는 일념으로 움직이는데, 사실 그 이유가 별로 설득력이 없다. 만난 기간도 얼마 되지 않고, 특별히 뭐 대단하게 서로 많이 한 일도 없는데, 그렇게 짧은 시간에 죽을 만큼 사랑하게 된다는 사실이 현실적이지 않다.

오주은이 박신양하고 결혼하려고 설치는 이유도 공감이 되지 않는다. 단순히 자기가 멸시하던 친구 김정은이 재발인 박신양하고 결혼하는 게 샘 나서 그렇다고 해도 이해가 안 되며, 박신양에게 첫 눈에 반했다고 해도 이해가 안 된다. 처음에는 샘 나서 그런 것처럼 보이다가, 나중에 가면 박신양을 아주 사랑하는 것처럼 나오는데, 박신양은 오주은에게 한 번도 잘 해 준 적도 없고, 둘이 무슨 추억이 있는 것도 아니고, 아무 것도 없다. 단지 박신양이 부자이고, 오주은의 부모가 정략적으로 둘을 결혼시키려고 했다는 것밖에 아무 것도 없는데, 왜 저렇게 쫓아 다닐까?

3. 현실적이지 않은 선악 구분

무슨 초등학생용 전래 동화도 아니고, 나쁜 놈들은 그냥 천성이 나빠서 하는 짓마다 나쁜 짓만 하는 것처럼 묘사된다. 특히 박신양을 쫓아 다니는 오주은과 제이모터스 사장 역 남자 배우가 그런데, 솔직히 이 세상이 저렇게 대놓고 나쁜 짓만 하는 사람이 얼마나 될까?

오주은은 보고 있는 것조차 민망하기 그지없었다.  말투 자체도 진짜 억지스럽게 못됐고, 표독스러운데, 그 게 가끔 그런 게 아니고, 나오는 내내 그렇다. 얼굴 표정도 내내 비꼬고 무시하고 짜증내는 표정이다. 도대체 평소에 늘 저런 식으로 말하고 표정 짓는 사람이 어디 있는지? 초특급 사이코패스 정도나 되어야 할까?

캐릭터가 너무 비현실적이어서 도저히 공감이 안 된다.

4. 현실적이지 않은 남자 주인공

Fifty Shades of Grey라는 소설이 그렇게 유명하다길래 아마존에서 샘플을 받아 앞 부분은 좀 읽었는데, 너무나 비현실적으로 유치해서 도저히 봐 줄 수가 없었다. 거기에 따르면 주인공은 30대 초반의 남자인데, 사장으로 돈이 무지하게 많고, 얼굴은 완벽하고, 운동도 잘하고, 머리 좋고, 여러 언어를 말하고, 무슨 헬리콥터인가도 운전하고 세계 빈민 구호 사업을 하고... 기타 등등 도저히 30대 초반에 다 이루기 어려운 것들을 하고 있었다.

이 드라마의 박신양도 거의 마찬가지다. 30대 초반에 재벌 회사의 사장인데, 경영 능력이 뛰어나고, 프랑스어도 잘 말하고, 대학교 때 하키 선수에다가, 피아노까지 잘 치고... 그런데 따르는 여자가 없었는지, 부모가 억지로 결혼시킨 여자 말고는 연애를 해 본 적도 없다고 한다. 도대체 이런 사람이 현실적으로 있을 수 있나. 

이동건 역시 비현실적이다. 잘 생긴 얼굴의 20대, 디자인은 몇 년 간 놀다가 회사에 갑자기 툭 들어가서 기존 직원한테 전혀 도움도 받지 않고 대작을 단기간에 만들 정도로 천재적 재능을 가지고 있는데, 드럼 연주도 잘하는데, 여자 친구가 없다.

나는 문득 작가가 여자가 아닐까 싶었다. 왜냐하면 Fifty Shades of Grey도 작가가 여자였기 때문이다. 찾아 보니 역시 이 드라마의 작가가 여자였다. 이 드라마를 쓴 시점에 작가 나이는 30살 정도였다. 현실을 아직 잘 몰라서였나, 아니면 현실을 부정하고 자기의 환상 세계를 드라마로 이룩하고 싶었나.

5. 황당한 결말

사실 결말에 대해서는 "모든 것이 상상이었다"라는 말을 어디에선가 들은 것밖에 기억을 하고 있지 않았다. 군대에 있어서 마지막 회는 다시 못 보았고, 그대로 잊혀졌던 것 같다. 다시 보니 차라리 모든 것이 상상이었다고 하는 게 훨씬 더 나았을 것 같다. 이 건 무슨 도플갱어도 아니고...

인터넷을 검색해 보니, 원래는 박신양이 회사에서 쫓겨 나고 파리로 가서 말단 일부터 새로 하는 새 인생을 시작하다가 김정은과 다시 만나게 되는 이야기였는데, 시청자들이 반대해서 결말이 바뀌었다고 한다. 초반부와 결말부를 미리 프랑스에서 다 찍어서 왔다가, 결말이 바뀌어서 편집해서 썼다고 한다. 하긴, 마지막 화에 박신양이 파리의 자동차 센터에서 정비공으로 일하는 장면이 나왔는데, 도저히 말이 안 된다고 생각했었다. 한국에서 자동차 대기업 사장이었던 사람이 프랑스로 유학 가서 자동차 정비공을 한다는 게 말이 되나?

결론

이 드라마에서 마음에 드는 부분은 박신양의 사랑해도 될까요 노래밖에 없었던 것 같다. 나머지는 현실적이지도 않고, 재벌과 출생의 비밀과 우연히 겹겹이 뒤섞인 전형적 한국 드라마인 것 같다. 좋은 영화나 드라마는 몇 년 지나 다시 보면 새로운 감동을 얻을 수 있을 건데, 파리의 연인은 다시 안 보았으면 좋았겠다는 생각이 든다. 물론 나중에 다시 볼 생각도 없다.

도대체 이런 드라마가 인기가 있는 이유가 뭘까 하고 생각을 했다. 일단 내용으로는 꽝이라고 생각한다. 하지만 객관적인 사실은, 이 드라마가 국내에서 엄청나게 인기가 있었다는 것이다. 작품이 좋은 것과, 작품이 인기가 있는 것은 서로 다른 성질이라고 생각한다. 마치 어떤 음식이 몸에 좋은 것과, 입에 맛있는 것이 서로 다른 성질이듯이. 물론 나에게는 이런 드라마를 쓸 재주가 없다. 하지만 내가 할 수 없는 능력이라고 해서 모든 능력이 다 좋은 것은 아니다. 파리의 연인 작가는 사람들이 보기를 좋아하는 드라마를 쓰는 능력은 있는 것 같지만, 좋은 작품을 만드는 사람인 것 같지는 않다.

뭐 물론 "좋은 것"의 기존이 사람마다 다를 테긴 하지만.
